Ive had mine for prob 6 months now and used it
virtually every day .... perhaps on avge 6 mins per day.

Suddenly today I turn it on to see a few strange flashes ......
I suddenly realize that the bulb or element has gone. The fan part is still working ok ....

But how do I get this element out ?
Where on earth do you get new elements ?
Im lost !

I had one of those which was okay while it worked, but it began to show similar symptoms and almost caught fire when I left it on while I was out for a few minutes.

It was a JML branded one from Wilkinsons.

If it is only six months old then take it back and get a exchange or refund.

the halogen bulb has gone an needs to be replaced

you dont take a car back if the headlight bulb breaks ...

I ve checked out a few U tubes and replacing the bulb seems
a bit of a performance ........ !
wonder how a 70 year old lady would cope ?

One bit of advice.... dont touch the bulb with bare hands... wear rubber gloves to get old one out and put new one in ....

( but where do I get a new halogen bulb ???)

This carry on was never mentioned by the guys on Ideal World !

It is not suppose to go after just six months, a car headlight is a different thing. My first Halogen was a JML, i got it from Argos, bulb blew in about 8 months, so I took it back for a refund.

Best to use a soft cloth to replace the bulb, not rubber gloves.

The bulbs should last for a couple of years at least, my friend got a JML one just after me and she uses it most days and it lasted for three years and it was not the bulb that went but the motor on the fan.

They were pushing halogen ovens last week...

... but no mention of the fact that the ... bulb.... can go pop
any time and its not easy to get a replacement..

Ive sent 3 e mails to Ideal world about this matter... mine popped after 12 months......

no reply to any of the e mails.

I got a replacement bulb from this eBay seller http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=180603755977 .
It's a bit of a palarver doing it for the first time, not so bad getting to the old bulb but the putting everything back together again was a bit tricky.
Still I managed it though and if and when the next time comes it should a bit easier.

Any appliance has at least one year warranty but you are right that the bulb is too small an issue to waste your time with the warranty. Still, I'd give them a call to see if they want to stand behind their product or not. Even if they try not to help you, no problem.
I don't recall seeing such a bulb in any store anywhere. But I'm sure someone's selling that online, probably Amazon.co.uk. Just do a search and wait for it to get shipped to your door. It should be vey cheap.
And tell people what brand the oven was...

think Im over the year warrantry...
you re prob right amazon is the only hope...

but with thousands of halogen ovens out there
you d think that a store like b and q or curries would start selling them .....

don't think they do... many a way to find out a product replacement is to Google the reviews and sometimes tell you where they bought replacements from..

OR join the forum's .. or just Google the bulb.. good luck..

Happened to me too. About three months after I bought mine. Deeply scary because I was just a few feet away. It tripped my fusebox as the element went nuclear and all the lights went out. I read somewhere that it's quite a common fault. I got a full refund and, I have to say, I'd never buy another.
