Well of course YOU would Janis because you obviously love Ashleigh, even though you say you don't. I don't find any of these words hateful, now if anybody called me a slut and I heard one of my friends say 'I wish she would just f---- off' or I heard somebody call me a monkey, the person that defended her (Winston) and backstabbing them then I would be rather upset.

But I don't think these are hateful words at all.
I'm not talking about Ashleigh I'm talking about if someone said those things about ME I would consider them quite hateful words. I don't love Ashleigh. I don't know Ashleigh. I like her as a housemate on BB and I hope she wins and when this is over I won't give her or any of the others another thought. But to be precise, she didn't call Winston a monkey. She said he LOOKED like a monkey at that particular time. I'm not and have never said she was perfect. She is a human being, flawed like the rest of us but in my opinion, less flawed than most of the others in there with the possible exception of Christopher.

To be fair to Darcy that is ridiculously mild compared to what is used towards certain others and it's not even in the same ball park. You often see the far more offensive words laughed at and encouraged by multiple people and no one says a word.

It' like worrying about a leaky tap when we've got a tsunami headed our way.

You really wonder why the Ashleigh fans are called out for having double standards here. You are pulling me up for things I have said as being hateful but Ashleigh has said much worse and now you are defending her for the edited h/ls.

Come on now labbie you really must do better than that.

I completely rest my case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never agreed with Ashleigh calling other hms names but she is in a pressured environment and she is still fairly young. She will learn when she watches this back. She has however been a fantastic housemate and I give her credit for that because she hasn't held anything back.

If someone said those things about me I would consider it pretty hateful as I am sure would you
If somebody wants to say they think it's harsh then that's their opinion but to try and say it's hateful then you are over exaggerating

Some people throw the hate word about willy nilly but when I have never, ever said that I hate anybody in my life that most definitely can not be said of me.

That is really a ridiculous remark!

So you think it is Ok to call a young woman an 'ass licker', 'a bitch' etc. I think these are horrible ways to describe anyone, never mind a fellow female.

I never call other women 'bitches', 'ass lickers', 'sluts' etc. There is no excuse to do this on this forum.
You may not have used the word ass licker to describe Jale but you have certainly implied it or said other words that mean the same thing.

But that's the point, it's the words you use.

Why does it matter if they are female

Ass licker isn't exactly a hateful word, and Ashleigh is a bitch, she even admitted that herself. She bitches more than any of them in there.

I happen to think it is, and you can say someone is 'bitchy'.

Exactly AOTB! I could not agree more. Thank you for that, I will take it with a pinch of salt because I think somebody is trying to wind me up.

You are a good voice of reason and it's great to have somebody like you on this thread. Fair but not afraid to put yourself out there. My kind of person.

They mean the same thing, why does it matter ?

And you didn't answer my question, why does it matter if one female says it about another ? what difference does that make ?

Are you kidding me? I am the guy who gets a beat-down (well alleged internet beat-down anyway!) whenever I dare to point out people calling women names (including women posters) is out of order, counter productive to modern feminist ideals and at times downright nasty. And I point it out a LOT.

Have you expressed even more disgust at those who call Helen slapper, slut, slag? This, and far far worse, happens almost daily and I'm sure I've seen a load of posters in this thread in those too. I seem to recall some pesky sod called AOTB being the only person to actually object there and yet here, where it is far milder a few people are jumping on this? Come on, be fair now.

Bitch/bitchy is there a difference and I am sure that you called Jale an ass licker or something similar, perhaps I will have to look back. What's wrong with condescending and backstabbing as well?

No swear words or awful names there, very mild I think!

To be fair I don't tend to go into the Helen threads but I do not agree with calling anyone a 'slut' 'slag' etc. I can't be pulling everyone up, I am too busy defending Ashleigh and Chris on here. I detest it when men do it but for other women to do it is just so very, very, wrong.

No worries Segagamer, we all know that it's nothing bad in the grand scheme of things but it just proves our point in the constant double standards that we talk about

Well fair enough, YL and I am not having a dig at you personally, but hopefully next time this happens I can rely on all the people calling Darcy out in this thread to come and back me up, cos usually it's me against the masses. (although that's quite fun to be fair!).

If at the end of the day sexist and misogynist comments are reduced (I doubt it will ever be eradicated) then who cares which HM it is- the bigger issue is highlighting this kind of thing and trying to point out it's a bit odd to see it so joyously celebrated and encouraged esp in 2014.

If the worst we see on here is bitch or saying someone is ass licking then I'd say we'd not just made progress, but giant strides.

I've changed my mind- once we take on the slut-shamers and win, I think we will ALL deserve a medal.

No, not really, just trying to put a point over and giving an opinion other than all the love for Ashleigh. Nothing too bad at all!

This is where I get confused.

Weeks ago, at the time it happened, I pointed out how damaging and hateful it was of Ashleigh to bitch about the other women in the pool that night they all jumped in.

I also posted here about her remarks about what women in the house were wearing.

Both incidents were nothing to do with Ashleigh being attacked or her defending herself.

They were straight up bitch talking about other women implying they were sluts.

I said at the time, it's one of the things no woman should do and was laughed at because I suggested that the only result remarks like this can lead to is women being ordered to cover up.

So why are you now defending Ashleigh?
We have seen/heard her doing something that as you rightly say is "very, very wrong" and no sign that she has learnt not to be so judgemental.
