They must be giving him a trial as there was no need for him to be there at all really.
For those who are wondering why he was on: they were demonstrating some home security devices such as fake cctv camera, tv light-flickering simulator & the belkin wemo remote appliance plug. Dan was saying how good they were based on his expertise as a former police officer.

I never really got the Dan hatred on here - I wasn't his biggest fan but I far from hated him.

I'm watching this now and Dan being there seems pretty pointless. They haven't mentioned his connection to Rylan yet. Why does he always look a bit sweaty?

He had an entitled attitude. He couldn't stand it when Callum dared to nominate him in the face to face noms and proceeded to nominate him every single week afterwards until he was evicted. As well as forcing his opinions on the other HMs, (like when he kept trying to get everyone to share the same opinion as him that Michael was an actor), he kept trying to get everyone else to share his opinion by being nasty about Callum behind his back. He even threatened to punch him, which resulted in him getting a formal warning.
