It would save a lot of cutting and pasting just to agree with a comment! And for that matter, a disagree button...... and many other useful buttons.

It is a good idea, but don't you just press quote button instead of c & p?

I cannot figure out how to bib bits in quotes - very annoying.....

Agree!
Better yet, thumbs up/down buttons showing who gave it. It's gonna get nasty!

Good idea. I'd also like a quote notification option ( you can enable an instant PM and/or E-mail when a post you make is quoted) so it's a bit easier to keep up with discussions.

Like many, I also wish they'd allow us to change our usernames. But I'm stuck with this silly one for life

I'd give you a thumbs up for this one if I could!

Like button is a great idea. It should be like Facebook and show the name of the user who gave the like.

I agree - I'm involved in another (unrelated) forum & we introduced thanks buttons, which attracted too many ''thanks whores'' which dilluted discussion & soon had to get rid of the option.

On the Amazon Kindle forum they have a voting button:
"Do you think this post adds to the discussion?" with Yes/No buttons.
6 No's and your post gets hidden.
It has often caused chaos because of clique and block voting.
Some posters opened multiple accounts simply to disrupt the forum and the same few innocent posters got targeted for "fun" whilst trolls regularly got high "Yes" votes.
All that for posts regarding a kindle.

I do like the way Houtukdeals does it, ideal really, does save a lot of messing about just to show agreement with a point.

You can get a badge if you get a lot of likes too...

Though personally I don't think that this is necessary.

Precisely.

The circle jerks on here are boring enough but at least the tugger in question has to make some effort in hitting 'quote' and adding the word 'Exactly' or 'This' underneath.

Remove the need for even that small effort and it'll be brown-nosing Armageddon.

It sounds good in theory but I read a thread on here yesterday asking why DS is much quieter these days. If a 'like' button was added for people to click when they agreed with a post, instead of typing their own response and actually contributing to the discussion, it would just be another nail in the coffin!

No, likes are not conducive to discussion. You'll just get a bunch of people making pithy remarks that happen to agree with the majority and soon there's a 'likes' race on.

What's a "circle jerk"?
(I need to check if I'm one or just an ordinary jerk).
