I know mark is unpopular on here but is he on twitter etc, that's where the votes lie, I would hate him to leave after Christopher

Oh how I wish there was a thumbs up for posts on here

I think what Christopher might be saying is that he doesn't usually associate with nasty, delusional, toxic people in his everyday life. Perhaps his friends, acquaintances and colleagues are reasonable intelligent people, who one wouldn't HAVE to argue with to make a point or resolve an issue.

(Ashleigh said something similar to this in an earlier episode - that she's never come across these 'types' before.)

Maybe this is the first time Christopher has actually been around a bunch of delusional, self obsessed sociopaths?

Same here. That would be a awful result but I do think support for Mark as dwindled these past two weeks. Look at the bookies. His odds continue to lengthen where as Christophers odds are being slashed by the hour. As it stands, Christopher has a bigger chance of finishing above Mark. However we still have three weeks and viewers do have short term memories. All Mark needs is one good edit and then it's game on. As much as it pains me to say it, I still think Mark has a outside shot of winning.

However the crown is anyones to take this year. There is no favourite.

That's EXACTLY why she doesn't want him to hear it!

It's a pretty unusually toxic situation for sure, and I'm certainly not having a go at him because he's been fortunate enough to avoid such things or suggesting he's led some sort of sheltered life

What I'm trying to say is that I hope he can keep in mind the value of "keeping your head while all around are losing theirs" - a quality I often look for in my chosen winner

(I can remember Stuart BB5 - my chosen winner that year - saying that conflict was something that did not crop up in his life, but nonetheless he dealt with a rattled Vic admirably on Fight Night)

Perhaps it's to do with how I interpret being "good at arguing" - not the loudest, foulest or whatever but the better at putting their point across in a way that disarms the opponent.

Good post. I find it ironic that Mark was going on at Christopher for not standing up for himself, when in fact Christopher is the only housemate that has argued a point with Helen and won. She actually backed off and agreed with him. No other housemate has managed to do that with Helen. Which kind of proves that there's a way of dealing with Helen that will gain respect. I think Helen could learn a thing or two from Christopher's way of dealing with conflict.

As for Mark? Like Winston, he only argues or gets involved for show and to look good to the public.

Although at the time he didn't win any plaudits for it (what with the tears and everything), I think the way he handled Pauline's assault on him was admirable and a testament to how these things can be done.

He took her aside, asked what the problem was, let her pretty much lay it all out... all the things she didn't like about him "you're selfish", "you don't share", "you stand behind people while they're having conversations" and gave a reasoned explanation for his actions - by the end of this conversation it's Pauline who's crying and apologising to Christopher ..."the thing is I just got into schoolgirl mode and i haven't been in schoolgirl mode since I was a schoolgirl and usually I'm the one that got picked on - we both have to take responsibility for what we did and I'm sorry I hurt your heart without any shadow of a doubt."

A textbook example of how adults can resolve conflict - and although I'm no Pauline fan it is a credit to both of them and such a contrast.

Yes exactly ..... I think Helen would have had more credence if she didn't pepper every argument with expletives and insulting name calling. It obscures the points she tries to make (which, to be fair are usually hypocritical, but whatever.) Without all the nastiness I am sure would be perceived in a more positive way.

I agree with you that there are sensible, assertive ways to put yourself across without having to descend to the gutter. I think Christopher has put his point across admirably so far, the same with Mathew.
