It's only panto as they are so keen to tell us

But not anymore as these days it's just plain malicious and they are encouraging it every week with the booing and the off off off's

Hopefully that will be one of many things that will be looked at in the close season if Viacom keep the show, and hopefully the booing and chanting will be culled

Used to be that the crowd reaction meant something, with only 1-2 getting bad receptions throughout the series.

Now with this rent-a-mob it's a largely watered down "panto" reaction as pretty much 80% of the HM's come out to boos.

Yes it is all meaningless (being serious now)
I believe it was Adele BB3 who kick started the booing off. Desperately unpleasant character.
Then as far as I can recall it was Grace who really got the ball rolling later on. Now they just boo and chant because they can. It used to be quite a relief as a viewer for a real villainous character to be outed by the crowd reaction. Our way of sending a message to the housemates (in the event a plane wasn't available for hire )

Not really, there's no shock to any HM being booed.

It's like someone that swears all the time, the words have no impact, but if someone who you rarely hear swear does, then it takes you back as you weren't expecting it.

I expect everyone to be booed and they very often are.

I'd go so far as to say no one now receives blanket cheers, there will always be boos and cheers.

Agreed, it was almost worth a “YES!!” when a badd’un was booed, now even if the people I like are booed I just shrug.

Bliss, but I'm sure they check you for 'weapons' on the way in.

And megaphones.

And signs saying "This crowd reaction is nothing to do with Rooney it's just for a truly hateful person"

I liked it in the old days when music was played into the house so that those inside couldn't hear the audience reaction. Hearing the cheers and boos tips them off about how things are being perceived outside and affects their subsequent behaviour. The crowd now shouts out nasty things about people not even up for eviction, knowing it will be heard in the house.

Certainly seems to have gotten worse on channel five. I never, ever understood the booing of the friends and family.
Started if I remember right with the crowd booing Shievonne's aunt(?), two years back, which was an astonishing display of mob nastiness.

It's embarrassing. Especially the "Off! Off! Off!" during the interviews. God knows who thought it was a good idea to have the eviction interviews so close to the outdoor crowd.

Shame we can't handle evictions in the manner that other countries do - Australia give even the most disliked HM a certain amount of cheers and clapping! The eviction interviews in US BB are better than here - mainly because you can actually hear the question and answer! IMO, any HM leaving the house should be thanked for entertaining us - whether good or bad.
Having said that, I would be tempted to give a few of this lot an indication of just how much they are disliked!

We said the same when we found out channel 5 were buying the show. It's gotten worse actually. In fact, it's got to the stage now where they think that unless someone is heavily booed or chanted "off!" at, that the viewers will be disappointed. It's past no return now, even if Viacom do keep the show, Endemol still produce it so there will be no improvement in terms of tone.

No Nick BB1 always got booed when he was mentioned on evictions

Had he been evicted he would have also got booed
