Perhaps she worded it terribly and didn't mean to sound so insulting, but I don't see how she was "saying it as it is", because I don't think that's how it is at all. I mean, why is somebody who works in a supermarket not "successful"? Not everybody wants to be rich and famous.
Actually, Mark unsuccessfully auditioned for The X Factor. As far as Zoe's desired profession goes, Mark should be deemed unsuccessful (I'm not saying I believe that), but for some reason he has her seal of approval.
"Success" is unique to the individual, but some people seem to only have a very shallow definition of the word.
