"The Race Card"
The Cheekster
26-07-2014
I know this has been said in some threads but here goes:
All too often on this forum, any member who dares to even contemplate the possibility of racism is accused of playing the "race card".
Well, racism exists, it is not a mythical thing, it is alive and kicking in our society today. And we all know it is!

But the use of the 'race card' exists too, is not a mythical thing and is alive and kicking in our society also.

I don't get the point of this thread

So what you gonna do about it?
If you think Pav is being racially abused then do something.
Grizzling about it here ain't gonna have the slightest effect.
Write a letter to your MP or OFCOM or Jeremy Kyle or Jeremy Clarkson.

I would write a letter to Jeremy Clarkson, but I've thought about it, and I honestly don't think he would give a shit. I was merely making an observation that racism does exist so don't dismiss it.

I do find it odd that Pav is getting so heavily booed, dont think it is racism though.

I totally get you , its like people on here refuse to admit that any type of racism , sexism , homophobia etc. exists in the Uk and that if you point it out your being overly "PC" I really hate that expression because it makes out that people on minority groups don't actually face any prejudices and that to try and be inclusive and respectful and avoid offending people based on their race etc. is some sort of burden that they have to bear now that the world isn't constantly putting straight white people at the centre of everything

But on the other hand, the other side refuse to accept that race might not be a factor.

Well when it's been raised here as an issue it's a good time To talk about it imo. It's not like these sort of issues don't affect big brother at all

It might not be , but it's also pretty likely that it is.

I am white and straight. I think sometimes RACISM / HOMOPHOBIA can be shouted too soon But equally I think there is more ignorance and bigotry than we are prepared to admit sometimes.

I do think that some viewers will have an issue with Pav because he is DIFFERENT (eek, scary). We haven't seen enough Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus on shows like this so there's a lack of understanding. Some people are massively shallow and would rather watch Winston chanting "get your tits out for the lads" than see a decent guy talking about his beliefs.

I think Pav is the new whipping boy now Danielle is out. Is it a religious thing regardless of faith?

I don't think Danielle was disliked because she was religious. She was disliked because she came across as a stroppy, intolerant, hypocritical person. In any case, Pav doesn't appear to be shoving his religion down anyone's throat, but he has quite a reserved demeanour and has been damaged and undermined in the house by the comments of the three ex HMS. Added to that, he hasn't handled the situation very well. You need to be very, very confident and a raving extrovert to do well on this show.

......and perhaps there is a bit of racism thrown into the mix too.
