Anyone remember "the salon" where they refused to touch womans hair because she had nits, I know it seems weird Emma coming out with that, but good thing now- a- days people talk about it, same with Animal Fleas, Mice and Rats,

Do people still use chemical lotions - surprised at that, given the cost and the general anti-ness to chemicals around kids.

When I used to work in a school I just got used to a routine after shampooing of combing with those nitty-gritty combs with cheap conditioner... became something of a way of life!

Sooner someone can eradicate head lice though the better - I mean, what purpose do they serve!?

Well, she said it on Friday, so it basically was the weekend. I don't see what you're making a fuss about tbh.

That old myth about dirt and head-lice has been demolished by research based on facts fr some time now.

Head-lice actually prefer very clean hair. They are an unavoidable fact of life for most families with school aged kids.

No stigma is attached to it nowadays.

Yes, I always did it the old-fashioned way, comb and conditioner. I say always, luckily my daughter only had them twice! (so far )

Several years ago we had them in our family. After trying every natural method (eg. Neem and Tea tree oils etc) we eventually resorted to every chemical product known to mankind and some.

We got through bottle after bottle of conditioners with nit combing about a dozen times a day. We even purchased an electronic nit comb that electrocutes the mites! They were some sort of super-nits - a lot like the cRool crewe housemates I suppose (lame attempt to stay on topic).

We are a family of keen swimmers so was shocked they even survived the regular doses of Chlorine. I will never forget that summer - it was a nightmare

So my lesson from this thread is 'it could have been worse - much.'

We had three trips away during that holiday period. I winced when other hotel guests and locals would say how lovely our kids were and affectionately stroke the kids head's. I felt really guilty that we might have passed on the nits to other families's kids that my kids befriended.

No wonder none of them maintained contact post hols....

Hahaha

If your kids had nits it's likely other kids did too, there'd be no proof it was your kids

What a disgusting vile women. How she could embarrass her children like that on national tv.

By doing this she is therefore a terrible mother and her kids should be take in off her and put into care.

...Well that's usually what get's said on here isn't it...?

If Emma had announced that one of her children had scabies, criticism would seem justified.

Why? Scabies spreads even easier than nits. Neither are anything to be ashamed of.

Maybe the OP expected an announcement at the start of the show saying "Tonight's Big Brother will be presented by Iain Lee as Emma is at home sorting her childrens nits"!

Her eldest is only just 5 so I doubt her school friends will be watching BOTS and half wouldn't know what nits means. So the argument that the child will be embarrassed is silly. Nearly every kid gets nits at school and it's nothing to be ashamed of anyway it's nothing to do with having dirty hair.
