As announced on Digitalspy.. Any TV which is officially designed for Hi-Def TV will carry the letters: HD READY in a small logo perhaps on the set itself, and in the store.

Look for the symbol boys and girls because if it don't have it, it's not Hi-Definition TV!

Some rear projection TVs already bear the HD Ready logo, but they are not truly HD-compatible as they don't have HDCP inputs, and I don't think they do 720p. Basically some manufacturers decided to sucker in some poor unsuspecting customers by claiming HD compatibility despite the fact that there was at the time no agreement on HD standards for Europe.

Thats right, the High Def logo sticker only (at the moment) refers to the screen supporting the higher resolution of High Def. It doesn't automatically mean it will have all the right input sockets.

You really need one with a DVI connection, and it's a very good idea to get one with the HDMI socket as well as DVI. Sky will use HDMI, and I am sure others may follow. But 99% of stuff right now appears to be DVI. So get a tv with both types of socket!

Not forgetting a few good old scart sockets for existing "SD" equipment.

Some also have a Freeview tuner built in. If thats a requirement, you must look for that sticker as well.

There's not many tv's yet that conform to all of this, but Sony are bringing out a lot more updated tv's over the next 12 months, and I am sure others will do the same to link up with the launch of High Def Sky in 2006.
