What does the Postcode do in the setup?

I have the DTRT1000 box. In the Your Info & Legal page in Settings, there is a section for Your Postcode.

Can anyone tell me what is the point of this?

I have used my own postcode, plus other postcodes from around the UK, but this does not seem to change anything with regard to programme guides or on demand players.

Well in my case putting in the postcode gives me the full STV player on Youview and only gives me the ITV player for ITV2. 3 and 4.
I also had to enter my postcode when I set up the Samsung smart TV in my bedroom when I got it just over 6 months ago.`

I'm in Scotland but get the same STV Player and the ITV Player for ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 - but with an English postcode inserted.
