I DO buy into conspiracy theories LOL! Well at least I believe with these shows that there is always someone that the producers have 'penciled' in as the winner and with the correct editing and chosen words they generally get what they want.

Now, before FA started I privately predicted 'that' person might be Kim Medcalf due to her BBC role and having seen her on the Eastenders Xmas Special.

The way in which they have 'gushed' over Edith this past week has had the desired effect as far as I can see i.e some people believing it's fixed for Edith whilst quite conveniently and in a subtle manner bringing Kim into the limelight telling us how she is now blooming as the others are wilting around her.

Remember, the producers learned the hard way! They gushed over Lemar so much during FA1 that the public were desperate to ensure he didn't win.

Also, I thought Kim had no previous singing experience?
Kim Medcalf

Every night the judges are telling us none of them are singers but obviously Kim DOES have a musical background. I have no objection to her musically trained background but do object to the producers wanting us to believe she has JUST found her voice.

Debra too, has her album as advertised on her www.com site yet Paddy tells us in her defence when receiving a negative critique that she is not a singer.

I was watching the live feed and heard Debra mention her website and in a bored frenzy I decided to .com and .co.uk some of the others.

I found www.kimmedcalf.com rather interesting!

I can't deny Kim can sing but she's just not my cup of tea as she has no charisma and most of her performances have been too theatrical for my liking. Kim is just WAY too serious about the whole FA experience. I also think it would be interesting to see her tackle more songs which have not been rehearsed to the hilt before entering FA as there is a noticeable difference between her solo and lesser rehearsed group performances.

Anyway, Adrian get's my vote and because it's for Comic Relief I will be voting regardless of my conspiracy beliefs! Ade has the right attitude, has entertained me immensly and is IMO in there for all the right reasons. Number 1 being to raise money not raise profile. Yes, I do sincerely believe this is number one on his reasons to do FA list......unlike one or two other's.

I agree. Both Kim and Debra's websites are a real turnoff, particularly Debra's. (Kim's link goes to the BBC website - they have a page for each actor in EE).

They are both revealed as sickeningly perfect all-rounder stage school wannabes. The most skillful thing either of them has done in this show is act the naive soapstar who didn't know she could sing.

Wash my mouth out with soap - that would be a lot more palatable than the taste of either of the Soap Sisters winning this show.

Kayess, LOL!

I know the first link goes to Kims' profile due to her being in Eastenders. I only included this to highlight the fact that she has clearly been working on her 'voice' for some years!

However, I found www.kimmedcalf.com far more interesting!

That's some fairly hardcore singing experience Kim has - no wonder she's so good technically! It does seem a bit strange that it hasn't been mentioned.

I especially like the quote on the Eastenders page regarding her other talents -

Kim is a highly skilled singer specialising in jazz, rock and ballads. She has a mezzo-soprano voice.

Still it's for charity and having a few "ringers" in can only help with money raised. I seriously doubt any of them will have much success in terms of Album /single sales. Just wish they were a bit more honest.

No, you think she has no charisma. Do you really believe that people who like Kim think the same but just don't mind that she has none? No, they think she has charisma, talent, and the rest.

Kim is just WAY too serious about the whole FA experience.
What's wrong with wanting to learn and to sing as well as you can?

If people wanted someone who didn't take it seriously, they'd have voted for Konnie like I did or for Jenny. I'd probably have liked that FA better. But that's not how it went.
I also think it would be interesting to see her tackle more songs which have not been rehearsed to the hilt before entering FA as there is a noticeable difference between her solo and lesser rehearsed group performances.
I thought her duet with Debra was one of her best performances.

Sheesh! People have been complaining that Kim already knew how to sing from the start. This so-called "website" is just a pointer to a BBC page!

Why does www.kimmedcalf.com take you straight to the FA site - am I missing something, or is it supposed to do that?

Er...so it's a website that links to the front-page of the BBC Fame Academy Website - not even to her section. Big deal!

Debra's page has her album on it. Edith and Colin have a webpage devoted to the "Give Edith One From Behind" campaign, Chris Colqhoun has a web page etc etc.

More anti-Kim spin.

Oh what the heck, I'll clarify, slightly. What I said was it's all you can do.

LOL - I was expecting it to link to an all singing/all dancing showcase of "Kim's New Album".

One could argue that a link to the FameAcademy/Charity website is rather altruistic.

The trouble with these people is they are unable to effectively "frame" their arguments and end up looking foolish!

It's like taking candy from a baby....

What can I tell you, I have a bad memory, and couldn't be bothered to go and look for the original post. It all comes down to the same thing at the end of the day, at least I don't go round bad mouthing Kim, I just don't vote for her. I have respect for all of these people for giving up their time to do what they are doing.

Still want Ade or Edith to win though, but doubt they will.

All I can say that maybe the case, but no singing gets edited out of the show so your theory falls flat there and that is what we vote on.

What does it matter that Kim had some previous experience; she has not been making a living from singing in recent times and from my perspective improved greatly over the ten days she was coached by the Grants.
She is a beautiful woman with a good voice and sings well.
Edith won the whole series, but the two singers are so different, there is room for both of them.
Excellent series which produced loads of money for Comic Relief.
Well done all who took part.

The Grants were involved in that too. I distinctly remember seeing them in that Christmas show

Why did Carrie ignore that fact when she made out this was the first time she had met Kim?

Soprano then Mezzo-Soprano and below that is Contralto.

Lesley even said after Kim's final performance 'that just shows the benefits of a well-trained voice'. It wasn't a secret I suppose but they didn't ever say well you'd EXPECT Kim to have a better voice than the others because she was trained in singing for years. She was ostensibly on the same playing field as the others. I'm SO glad she didn't win.

There was no possible way that all the students could be of the same standard or ability. The main thing was how they progressed.
There were four girls who were better than all the rest right from the beginning and personally at the end I think it was almost impossible to separate Edith and Kim..they were both great. The other two were Dawn and Debra...both good in their own way.

That's not what Lesley said. She remarked on the benefits of teaching (as in the Academy for 2 weeks - or didn't you notice that?) There was no "just shows" and nothing about being trained in singing for years. And if your views are what Lesley was trying to imply, it was a rather nasty thing to do at that point.
