Worlds best tablet - Nvidiab Shield

GPU benchmarks are up to 4 times better than the iPad Air and also easily bettering the fast Samsung Tab Pro.

"When it comes to GPU performance, there’s really no question: the Tegra K1 is easily the fastest in all of our GPU benchmarks. It handily beats every other ARM SoC, including the newest generation of SoCs such as the recently introduced Snapdragon 805 and its Adreno 420 GPU. Ultimately, the only thing that can top the Shield Tablet is Surface Pro line, which is from a processor standpoint uses more powerful laptop-class hardware."

It has most other stuff like GPS, so is this the portable companion to have?

Looks interesting, but ultimately it will be held back by the fact Android tablet games will mostly be written to be able to run on most tablets, and may not in fact take much advantage of the extra technology on offer here.

I've also heard people uttering that if they want to play serious games, they will do so using their Xbox / PS4.

I cant see this being a success.

It is the very same resolution as all the high end smartphones. (Android)

So with 80% + of the world market that looks a infinitely lesser problem than having to cater for those millions of older tablet devices dating back to 2010.

It looks a brilliant all rounder, and a big upgrade from the Nexus range, especially those bass reflex speakers.

Its not so much that, I was thinking more in terms of whether there will be many titles that can take advantage of the extra horse power this thing has... or will many people just see it as being too expensive for something that, in their eyes, doesn't do anything more than a cheaper one.

The real gaming enthusiasts will probably continue to use their consoles.

But saying that, I'd have one!

" As someone that has spent the past few years never considering a tablet purchase at all, the Shield Tablet is the first ARM tablet that I would seriously think about buying."

A positive comment yet Joshua Ho did not quite say why apart from "Given the sheer amount of utility that this device brings to the table, the pricing is definitely set at the right place."

I did wonder about his comments as well. I'm not convinced that the gaming side alone would convert someone who was fairly "anti-tablet" into someone who wants one overnight, especially as you can play games on any tablet.

I do think its a nice little machine, but ultimately, I'm still unconvinced that it's likely to be a success; the price is on the high side for an 8" tablet (excluding Apples offering), and sure the benchmarks are impressive, but average Joe wont know or care. Not only that but things like "the screen is a bit washed out" concerns me on a device that has top tier pricing.

Apparently this is hot too if you can get one!

" It's available in China right now, costing the equivalent of just £140 - but good luck on getting one, in the short term at least. The initial 50,000 unit allocation sold-out mere moments after it went on sale "

No wonder being the highest spec tablet available

I was seriously considering getting this over the new Nexus 9 but now i've learned the colours on the screen is very poor (washed out screen?). Considering i'll be using my tablet to browse net and watch videos, tv and film this makes the tablet redundant. Excellent specs though.

err it is right up there at the top, its Anand word slant that is slightly skewiff.
Its right near top for brightness, black levels and contrast ratio. Funnily enough they had the Retina iPad Mini as the worlds worst for saturation.

I think gamers would see that as a positive anyway, games needing even more saturation than TV.

So £240 RRP maybe making a bargain £175 street price.
