Sorry, James, I was merely using your quote as a point of reference, and I was supporting what you said and justifying why I said it. I was at no point disagreeing with you, in fact quite the opposite. I think it is YOU who is misunderstanding ME

Those events have yet to occur in the ninth Doctor's timestream, so despite these events having occured in Earth's past, they are still to occur in the Doctor's future. Obvious, really!

I think it would be a good touch to have one of those events as the basis for an episode. Just a thought, Russell, if you're looking in, and if you do use the idea, I won't charge you much for the privilege...

Why is Christopher Eccleston not on the list of choices in this poll?

I know it's slightly naughty, but I have just seen it - and the subtle nuances in the script and the excellence of the characterisation of that script by both of the main actors blows all previous Doctors away - it's flipping brilliant!

I bow down in homage to Mr Russell T Davies.

It has to be Tom Baker, but why did you leave out Paul McGann?

Unfortunately both movie release Doctors have been banned from discussion in the main stream of the series, a bit like Enterprise really.

Hopefully the new Doctor Who series will introduce better special effects and solid props that have been the butt of jokes preventing it from Stateside recognition. I do have reservations about Eccleston though, Its not as though a Saturday teatime slot is his main strength, nor a face and attitude that will endear him to four year olds. More adults are going to tune in than kids.

By whom? Russell T Davies has gone on record saying that Eccleston is the 9th Doctor so he must surely consider McGann as the 8th.

It was a Fox/Universal/BBC co-production with Paul McGann. There was no involvement by Spielberg - though he evidently looked at the project at some point. The guy behind it was Phillip Segal, who had worked for Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment at one point or other though.

As for the Poll - I like them all, they all bring somehthing different to the role. I think people tend to have a fondness for the Doctor they saw first though... and for me that was Davision.
