I've just caught up on the episodes with Patrick and Maxine's reveal and aftermath and I think Nikki Sanderson did a smashing job and has done really well portraying this domestic abuse storyline, I wasn't keen at first but it's been probably one of the few shining lights on Hollyoaks atm and I think a lot is down to the actors themselves

I never thought much of Maxine as a character as first but she really come along.

It just shows what can be achieved when they put there head into it.

She is excellent, I just hope they don't do the inevitable and put her with Dodger, she wouldn't be used at all for anything interesting then. Can't wait to see her become a mum though, those will be some amazing scenes.

Nikki has been amazing. I liked her in Corrie, but they really did not use her full talents! So glad she came into HO

She's come a long way since her Candice days.

Nikki has been amazing in this storyline. She has really come a long way since she first joined Hollyoaks. I'm glad she's had a chance to shine. Hats off to Jeremy Sheffield too, both have acted there socks off for this storyline even though the writing has been flimsy at times.

She has given a completely transcendent performance. Just when I think it can get better, it always does. 10/10.

Watching the episode tonight & the one on E4 shows how good Hollyoaks can be, it was really riveting to see Patrick trying to twist it around, making out that he was the victim. Nike is excellent, her facial expressions speak most of the time. Jeremy Sheffield really does portray the 'old school' headmaster very well too.

Really great performances from Nikki and Jeremy. I do think she would be wasted with a Dodger pairing.

I agree, at the start I thought Maxine and Dodger would be good together but with how he has been acting lately and his behavior on tonight's E4 just made me realise how mismatched they are. Maxine's too good for him imo. Even if it was for a short while, he still doubted Maxine and believed that she could harm herself. Let's face it, he wouldn't have believed Maxine if Sienna hadn't of told him about what Patrick done to her as a child.

She has been brilliant and so has Jeremy Sheffield, I do think the dodger thing was a bit too sudden, for one I hope Maxine doesn't go back to him.

I've found them both lacking in range. It's the same thing every episode.

He gives her a bulging eyes stare, she gives a gulping scared look. There isn't much variety. But then the story itself has been pretty repetitive.

True it's not been the most well written storyline but in the last few episodes I have been impressed by her and imo probably one of the few s/l that's been bearable on HO of late.

Jeremy Sheffield has been wonderful in this storyline, he's given a brave performance, I think, but I think Nikki Sanderson really carried this storyline. Without her, i'm not sure if it would have been pulled off half as well.

I was never a Corrie viewer but I remember one of two comments from Corrie viewers who were dubious when they learned she was joining Hollyoaks last year - obviously they need not have worried.

I've voted for her as Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards. I was torn between her and Stephanie Waring but she won.

Although I don't think Hollyoaks dealt very well with the aftermath at all, Jeremy and Nikki have both shown what amazing actors they are through out this storyline and I hope they get recognition for it

She has been really fantastic during this storyline as has Jeremy but Nikki just edges it in the performance stakes for me.

Thank goodness it's not just me. I got sick of the same 'pulled together eyebrows' sad face.

The story could have been an excellent one, and to me the best part of it has been Nikki and Jeremy. They've been excellent. Even the supporting cast - Dennis, Blessing, Sienna and Dodger - have been great (Dodger less so than the others, but bless him he's just so pretty).

I think they have been brilliant and done the storyline proud, yes it has been repetitive but that's true to reality in many relationships where there is dv.

I hope they get some recognition for their hard work

I see what your saying that the performance has been a bit repetitive, but I do think NIkki's convincing as an abused woman. I'm not saying she's Meryl Streep (or even Alison King from Corrie), but I do think she's done very well and is very good by Hollyoaks standards (which I know is not that high at all ).

Yes it's true to life in that aspect, but it doesn't make it a better written storyline.

She leaves me cold. Honestly can't understand why people rave about her so much. I've seen no development or deterioration from her, just the same facial expressions and tone in every scene they share together. And I honestly don't think Jeremy Sheffield has been any better. I'm glad that the storyline has raised awareness of domestic abuse but I certainly don't think they've given us anything groundbreaking with it.
