I love him!

Get rid of Dame Judy and keep the Doc as a regular.

Seems too light-hearted to fit in with the rest of this scummy programme.

He is funny, and he actually references real research to back up what he is saying, unlike the body language 'expert'.

He is a bit like an embarassing uncle at a family wedding, trying to get everyone up to dance.

He should abandon academia and just get himself a webcam and a wish list.

But is the only reason he's popular on here because people find him funny? I can't take him seriously at all because of his constant prancing around every five seconds. Why can't he just say his analysis whilst sitting down in a normal conversation?

He may have qualifications to his name, but some of the other psychs like Dr Pam Spurr have qualifications too and they get slated. Why is he different? Is it just because people find him funny?

It's a fair point and for myself, I would say that it is because it is light-hearted. Judy James and Pam Spurr and also to some extent, Diane Youdale give a lot of opinions dressed up as science. They wouldn't dare give analyses like that in the real world without a fair bit of testing, interviews and observation.

Peter Lovatt is a Dance Psychologist. He holds the academic post of Reader and Principal Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire where he runs the Dance Psychology Lab. His academic research addresses questions such as: what’s the link between dancing and neurodegeneration? How does dancing change the way people think and solve problems? And, why is the way we move linked to our hormonal and genetic make up? Peter has a BSc in Psychology and English, a MSc in Neural Computation and a PhD in Experimental Cognitive Psychology. He carried out his post-doctoral research at the University of Cambridge

I know he looks like he couldn't, shouldn't ,wouldn't be able to dance but he really can. Every style he has demonstrated in previous shows has been spot on and his rhythm and "groove2 are fabulous. I'd dance with him any day of the week.

I think it is the contrast between the appearance and the ability that makes him funny.

Needs his own show.

Or failing that should be on once a week.

I was really happy to see Dr Dance back tonight. If only he was a regular, BBOTS would be so more enjoyable and fun to watch.

It's also nice to see Emma moving in her very sensual way, she really seems to genuinely like Dr Dance.

It sounds like interesting research, but it doesn't mean he's any better than Judi James or Pam Spur et al at analysing what's happening in Big Brother.

I'm not really bothered how accurate he is, I just think he's a charming and delightful man who makes me smile with his infectious humour and good nature

This series has been especially cynical and nasty and Dr Dance brings much welcome 'niceness'

Good point! I was surprised to find myself recognising the sort of things he was citing. It's not my area of work but I've heard of it. Whereas like you say the body language commentators don't tend to cite research - so even though what they are talking about is less niche, it's potentially less reliable.

Does Dr Dance actually have a job apart right now from appearing on BOTS half a dozen times a year???? I have read above his past qualifications

Which former polytechnic has been mad enough to employ him just now?!

He's currently at Hertfordshire, seems to have recent publications so still active in research.
