ARQ A Config: TBN UK, Community Channel and TruTV
TBN UK launched on LCN 65 on Arq A - 31/07/14 around 11:30am
Community Channel has been switched off while the barker loop promoting TBN UK launches on 5th January 2015 Meanwhile, TruTV is to launch on Arq A on Monday? What would be the configuration of streams? To have 14 streams? |

Using Digital Bitrate website - there were 2.4Mb/s of null packets before TBN UK video launched:

I've just tuned in now just after lunch to find both TBN UK and TruTV are both running video - so does this confirm that there are 14 video streams running on ARQ A?

Null packets has now dropped to 1.0Mb/s with one new video stream - Tru TV running @ 2.9Mb/s and TBN UK @3.2Mb/s compared with E4+1 @4.8Mb/s.
The video streams are as follows on ARQ A: 24 HOURS 1) Pick 2) Challenge 3) Sky News 4) Gems TV 5) Food Network 6) Movies4Men 7) Movie Mix 8) Quest +1 9) TruTV* 10) E4+1 11) from 04:00 Blue /from 05:00 Babestation 2 /from 08:00 Really 12) from 06:00 Create & Craft /from 18:00 Travel Channel /from 22:00 Smile TV 2 13) from 03:00 Party /from 07:00 Dave 14) from 00:00 Party /from 03:00 Community Channel /from 08:00 TBN UK* full launch 5 January 2014 * As the previous post says, either Tru TV or TBN UK timeshare with Community Channel and Adult Party. As the previous MHEG slate for Tru TV said it is to run for 24 hours, the above has been presumed correct. |

I'm a bit confused - I have video from Community Channel (63), TBN UK (65) and TruTV (68); earlier posts said that Community Channel had been switched off.

sorry yes the Community Channel (63) is off air you mite need to do a rescan on your tv or box.
Edit: Sorry!!!! My mistake, I completely forgot that I had moved the HD version to 63 on my newest TV (that actually allows such things) so you're right, ignore me. |

How long are channels allowed to have a channel on Freeview before they need to broadcast actual programmes rather than trailers?
TBN UK not starting till Jan 2015 seems a long time! |

TBN UK not starting till Jan 2015 seems a long time! As long as they are broadcasting something, that's what counts. To pay for the carriage so many months ahead and to broadcast a loop for so many hours a day when Freeview carriage is so costly, appears to show they've got more money than sense. The slot could be sublet for a few months until launch time, like what Quest did before it launched, for example, perhaps leaving a two hour slot off-peak to broadcast something within three months to keep the LCN. Incidentally, TBN must have been originally allocated the LCN in March, before CBS was assigned 66. |

Perhaps they will, heaven forbid, try to squeeze in a 15th video stream.

Doesn't seem a particularly Christian thing to do to take up valuable spectrum with a short looping video for five months, particularly when it's a channel for UK-based charities, community groups and voluntary organisations that appears to be losing out. Maybe they could gift Community Channel the spectrum for the rest of the year?

Not long enough for my tastes.
It's close isn't it, which is the biggest waste of bandwidth. A religious channel or a shopping channel. Quote:

It is how horizontal markets tend to operate. |

On the other hand, Community Channel maybe never had them hours and were an interim channel as those hours belonged to Shop at Bid / Price Drop originally and Community were the "caretakers" of sorts of the slot and don't forget they have a 24 hour stream on HD LCN109. With the move toward DVB-T2 this conversation may be moot in a few years anyway. So there may be no need of spectrum "gifting" to do anyway.
