I have just received my new iphone 5c which is on EE (previously Orange). The sim card is smaller than the one in my iphone 4 so how do I transfer my contacts. In the past I would put the old sim card in the new phone and copy contacts to phone but obviously I am unable to do this.
Any advice would be welcome.

Your contacts in your iphone 4 would have been synchronised to the cloud, usually your icloud account but could be an outlook.com or google account too.

On your new iphone you just sign in with the same icloud account and it automatically downloads them again.

SIM cards only store a limited number of names and phone numbers - and also have limits on the maximum length of each entry. Smartphones tend to use contact information from the likes of iCloud/Google/Outlook - which can hold full contact details.

As has already been suggested get the iPhone 4 to upload contacts to iCloud and then download from there!
