I think they saw his face when the penny dropped, and they felt remorseful. For all we know he had a breakdown in the Diary room that was too much for them to show/handle.

100 per cent I read some of the things Steve and his mother put on twitter, flipping disgusting. They created this story line to build up stories, and Steve and his mother are so desperate and hateful of Chris they are the driving force of this, when reading the threads here about Chris and creepiness I noticed so of the vicious threads where buy people that joined in June 2014, that made me suspicious and I did think it was Steven family and friends that joined the forum to create more crap and to big it up.

And he'd be pilloried for that just as much as he is being now. He'd still be called "creepy". Most of those currently claiming that "It's not that he fancies her, it's that he's not being honest about it..." would be just as affronted if he was up front about any feelings he might have.
