Charlie Lawsons (Jim McDonald) interview with DS - Fantastic read!
I know some people may not be a huge fan of this actor or character (I am!) but the answers he gave were very honest and so unusual to see a soap star admit to!
Admits that his last stint was daft due to Bev Calard's depression and other factors. Admits that the cast is so large and the pace so fast there is no longer the community spirit or many people in the green room/going out for a drink. Much more in there as well... Have a read below! What do you think? |

The relatively good news in all that is that he only appears in 30 eps (just under 3 mths) and is in prison for all of them. Small mercies.....

Great interview, love his honesty. I hope we get an "ELIZABETH YOU HOOOOORRRR!!!" or he could say it to Peter Barlow!

A refreshing display of honesty and straight to the point. Like how he refrains from gushing about the writers and producer like so many other soap actors. He's absolutely spot on when he talks about how daft
the robbery plot was |

I enjoyed that. I like how he is honest but without blindly bashing the writers or actors or whoever, he considers it from all sides. Callard's illness so they were rushing to finish the stories up to accommodate both their exits and the writer's working to such tight deadlines and having a lot of pressure put on them to come up with something in a short space of time.
But then also considers the flak that soaps get but gives the writers and actors their credit for keeping up the high volume of work on such a tight schedule. |

I clicked my way through a couple of pages of posts to find this thread, having just read Charlie's interview.
I agree with the other FMs who've said how refreshing it is to read such an honest, straight yet sensitive interview. He completely avoids any of the usual press office tripe, which always default to exhalation of the prowess of the producer and executive producer. At the same time, he manages to point out the pressures that other members of the production team are under, particularly the writers and storyliners. Fantastic. |

![]() Still remember Liz's first depature and Jim walking in on her and that psychotherapist at it like rabbits. Still makes me laugh how he collapsed on the floor.

I really like his objectivity. I suppose because he's not constantly immersed in the world of Corrie, he's got a bit of perspective on things. Funny him mentioning Gwen - I remember the character, but I'd forgotten that she was involved with Jim for a while.

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again, CL is (IMO) one of the best actors and JM one of the best characters in Corries history. I for one am glad he's coming back. OP, I agree, fantastic interview. |

OP, I agree, fantastic interview. Gwen was in a relationship with Jim when Liz left, he burned all their furniture in the middle of the street.
