Just wondering what people think about getting together with someone that is a lot older... eg. Chris is 15 years older than Ashleigh. As she is only 18, it seems clear that he is too old for her right now. But, what if she were 30 and he 45 ? What age differences are acceptable to you and at what stage of life ?

Half your age then plus seven is the rule i believe.

My other half is 13 years younger than me. He's the mature one and I'm the big baby

It'd be fine to me...
But she doesn't see him that way and she has her own boyfriend. So I think Chris should give her a bit of space.

There are no rules.

People decide for themselves for good or for ill.

Objectively, I don't think age is the issue with Chis/Ashleigh......he's an podgy unemployed actor and she's a bright young model. Can you not see the incongruence there?!

There is no incongruence. They are not partners, they are friends.

Why is this even a question in regards to Chris and Ashleigh for goodness sake!!

Maybe the OP is not a regular viewer and on hols from school? So lets forgive him/her for their ignorance - (ignorant in the nicest way of course).

Because they're in love.

I don't really think any age gap is bad as long as both parties are of age and in it for the right reasons. My partner is 15 years older than me, and we have a really good relationship. In fact all my previous relationships have been with people older than me. Not a deliberate action, it just naturally happened that way.

Age gaps, if the pairing is right, more or less don't matter. In my opinion anyway.

Yes---in a "very volatile house" is the key. They have supported each other in there since almost day one---through all the Steven and Helen aggressive weeks etc. In another world they may not have been so close but would have still been friends, I think.

I answered in the belief that the point of the thread was questioning whether age gap ruled-out becoming partners. Everyone else answered in this way too - what is your point caller?

My answer referenced him being a podgy unemployed actor while she lived in a different world, hence not a lot in common in the partner game!

It's not that I necessarily think that the age gap is too large as such. My issue is Ashleigh very much acts like a teenager. She carries a cuddly toy around with her. She takes it to the diary room. She sleeps with it. Chris is praying on that.

I think that any age gap is irrelevant.

Yup , that is actually the whole problem .........As I said earlier , a 33 year old Brad or Orlando would be OK...............but that is an outside viewpoint because only Ashleigh's opinion counts .

Acceptable to whom? You? Me? The actual 'couple'. Quite frankly, if they're legal it's no body's business. In the case of Chris and Ashleigh, there is nothing between them apart from a close friendship.

So in similarly insecure lines of work then?

I think people will ascribe whatever issues they wish to upon Chris' imagined desire to couple up with Ashleigh, purely as a stick to beat Chris with. The reality is, even if he did fancy Ashleigh, it's no-ones place to evaluate who is compatible with who or who is appropriate for who apart from those two very people involved.

You don't like Chris and have already posted offensive material about him so for me your opinion is not relevant.

I've had partners 20 years younger and 20 years older at different times in my life...never been a problem

I think that when you're young it is good to have someone quite a bit older for a starter relationship, it speeds up maturation and experience no end.
