Emmerdale's Donna Storyline

How does the bloke she is seeing not know about her cancer or have I missed an episode? Bob doesn't know either does he? When will this come out? Xx

She hasn't told him, Marlon "The arms" dingle only found out cause he got his usually bit between the teeth and wouldn't leave it alone, as he does repeatedly when the story requires.

A lot of people have mentioned before in this forum, that it is strange that apart from a few hot flushes she shows no signs, even though she is so close to then end. Not sure they are portraying this correctly, then I don't know much about cancer or the effects. She has a scan on Monday, maybe she just has constipation and it is all a big mistake.

I do think she is wrong to lead that Ross guy on so to speak, but if I was close to the end I would probably be trying to get it on with some women before I was unable I suppose. It's all a bit strange

She finally started to show signs during all the drama last week - shortness of breath, wheezing etc.

I still don't think that it will be the cancer that kills her anyway.

Yeah it's not very believable that she is in her final year? Still being able to work as a on duty policewoman etc. Feel sorry for Ross he seems to of really fallen for her. I reckon it will be Christmas by the time it kicks off properly. They need a dishy storyline for Christmas don't they lol. x

She is only back for a couple more weeks

These terminal illness storylines are never actually like it really is, it was the same with Hayley in Corrie. I suppose it would be too depressing if they made it too realistic.

Yep...two weeks and she's dead. Just like her dad Vic and her Mum Viv. Only Kelly and Scott to go. Still remember when she and all the family arrived in the village back in 1993 in that big lemon coloured car.

Does she die from the cancer though, because the way the spoilers are looking it looks like it may be something else that kills her.

This is soapland. Of course it's something else that kills her

If the producers expect us to feel sympathy for her, it's coming at a funny angle.

Wasn't there another boy? I vaguely recall?

Scott Windsor. He owned the garage at one time as i recall, and got Zoe Tate pregnant.

I agree it's looking likely that something else kills her, I just think it'd have done the storyline a lot more justice if she died from the cancer.

I have no sympathy for a mother who dresses her little daughter in bizarre outfits and then dumps her on anyone who will have her - Marlon, Laurel, Rhona, Bob.
Donna should have retired and spent 24 hours a day with April, not spent her last weeks hanging around with her boyfriend playing Bonnie and Clyde. Even Soapland should have some sort of reality factor.

I agree. When Donna first returned she was like a breath of fresh air - a nice character amongst the bitches, seriel shaggers and sulky brats. But oh no they have to turn her into a bent cop who is more interested in following Ross around with their tiresome on of relationship than spending time with her child who strangely wears dress up all the time. But being as she was only contracted until August, I suspect Donna's time will soon be up. Cue much overacting and windmill arm waving from Marlon and serious faces from his mate Speccy Egg Head,

This storyline is totally depressing and I'm finding it hard to watch, being the same age as Donna, and having a little boy myself. I don't mind at all that she lets April play dressing up all the time - April loves it and she obviously wants to keep her happy. I love that she's not encouraging the whole pink princessy thing. My boy is only two but I'll let him role play as much as he wants when he's older. It does no harm whatsoever. In fact it's good for development and should be encouraged. She wears other clothes too, I haven't seen her in 'character' for ages.

As for leaving April with the people she's going to grow up with - she's getting her used to her not being there. She wants to see that she'll be okay. It's the end of Donna's life and she too deserves some fun; she's worked hard as a policewoman and has brought April up really well - I'm sure I'd do the same.,

Very good point. She would qualify for in-service benefits if she died. I know I do in my profession.

A lovely post. You're little boy is indeed a very lucky boy!

Yes that's true, but I just wonder if that would be affected if it comes out that she herself was involved in the commission of the crime that then involved her death? I think it probably would.

However, I have a feeling that her misdeeds perhaps won't come out, so she won't be tarnished in her daughter's eyes. Maybe Ross will take all the blame to save her reputation.

Should be interesting either way.

Thank goodness.
I expect she's good in the musicals she does.

Not if Donna is exposed as a corrupt police officer.
