Is Aunt Babe sinister? (EE)
She's giving me the creeps recently. Her quiet intimidating comments to the likes of Dean, Tosh and Shirley make me think she's a dark character.

on the outside she looks like a loveable cuddly aunt but on the inside she is dark, creepy and a little weird! |

She definitely seems a bit sinister. I'm enjoying it, though. An evil aunt with all sorts of hidden secrets is a great idea for a character.

I'm not really into Aunt Babe, much to my disappointment. It's nothing to do with the writing or the characterisation, I just feel that - as much as I like Annette Badland - she's too cartoony for EE, especially as a villain.

Going by some of the writers on twitter responses to fans fans who have said to them how sinister creepy Aunt Babe is most the writers responses have been that it's an understatement that us viewers she's so much worse than we might think right now. Also Annette Badland also said in a recent interview we would hate her character and watch out for her at Christmas. Wonder just how Evil she is
could she be the one that's killed Lucy

I find her highly amusing as a villain. Not convinced at all. Too cartoonish for me. She also looks too much like Heather to take seriously. It's like Heather came back reincarnated as a drug-dealing auntie.

Yes - make no mistake that woman is evil.
I've got the feeling this story will take some really shocking turns, probably around Christmas, and Babe will have something to do with it. |

I think Babe is a complex character. She's got that warm, bubbly, big old auntie thing going on and then she can be cold, tough and mean. You have to remember that people from Babe's generation in the East End are like that. What I don't like is the way she is hiding Sylvie in her house and is acting so warm to Sylvie after what she did to her kids. She does love Shirley, Tina and Mick but she's no soft oldie.

Such a shame as I really wanted to like her but I think just like Phil Daniels, Jamie Foreman and Kierston Wareing before her, Annette is too out of place on EE despite having the talent to back her up. On the other end of the scale though. Tim West has fitted in like it was always meant to be. Stan is great. |

It's funny I was thinking the other day EastEnders hasn't had a nasty older lady, like a female Archie.
Peggy could come close - she'd push anyone under the bus if anyone messed with her boys and she treated Billy like dirt half the time - but she was never a villain. Then there was Glenda - not a villain but more bitch which is slightly different I think. I think Babe will be one to watch this year to see what she's planning. The way she was with Shirley was weird, one minute threatening her the next apologising. then 'no more secrets, eh?' I was worried that Stan would be Archie mk2 but he seems alright if a little grizzly. Yep. 'Babe' is definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing! |

Aunt Babe is fantastic. Would love to see her take on both Phil and Cora (that old soak need teaching a few manners).
Annette is a wonderful actress and I can see her having a lot of fun with this part. |

I love the actress and the character. I like that she is unpredictable, hard to read, makes the audience think and she plays it just right.

Absolutely, she's a fantastic character that has been casted brilliantly, the name babe along with the face Annette comes with luls you into a false sense of secruity... Can't wait to see her in full force.

I love the way the scriptwriters and the actress have portrayed her so far.
