running cost 32" CRT TV vs 50" LED tv
I recently upgraded my TV, as the old one was about 14 years old and a 32" CRT I decided to get a 50" LED TV from tesco as the had one on offer at the time, and I'm currently wondering how the running cost would compare
I don't the wattage of the CRT, but if say the TV was running 10 hours a day what would the saving be with the LED TV or would it be negligible due to the size increase? |

Typical 32" CRT consumes around 150 watts; the latest 50" LCDs around 70 watts. So The LCD will use around half the energy of the CRT.

You'd need to measure them both to be sure - but I would expect a 50 inch 'LED' set to make a reasonable saving on a 32 inch CRT.

The running power is going to be literally half.
And also the standby power is likely to be significantly less on the 50" I think over a year at those types of running hours (10hrs/day) it would be a saving of around £60/year. Maybe more if the TV is normally left in standby during the night |
