EE and Corrie exist in Emmerdale!
Did anyone else notice the TV guide in Emmerdale tonight? With Linda Carter clearly in shot and Tina McIntyre partially visible!
I found it quite amusing, I wonder if any of the regulars watch the other soaps?

Emmerdale was real in Brookside. Mick Johnson was reading a newspaper with a headline about a plane crash in Beckindale on the front page.

In the American soap 'General Hospital' John Stamos who had previously played a character called 'Blackie' starred as himself sometime later when some of the characters went to Hollywood and he was approached by one of the characters who said to Joh Stamos "I remember when you were Blackie in General Hospital." Therefore 'General Hospital' exists in 'General Hospital'

I remember in around the '80s the (old) Kabin had a Corrie video on the shelves in the background; somebody wrote in and pointed it out although I imagine it was a deliberate in-joke.
Dirty Den I believe once had to mime "Coronation Street" in a Christmas game of charades. |

Would be nice if Corrie referenced EastEnders for their 30th.

I remember watching a Brookie episode on YouTube (think it was Mike & Rachel's wedding day at the posh place) & one of the relatives of the posh family was related to Jill in Crossroads.

If soaps don't cross over, then they do exist as a soap in another soap opera.
Case in point: All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital each did crossovers with each other. The Young and the Restless did a crossover with The Bold and the Beautiful and As the World Turns. Days of our Lives however never did crossovers and had characters talking about another soap opera on the same channel (Passions), which would make Hollyoaks look tame in comparison! |

Brookside existed in the same reality as Hollyoaks. They even had a character transfer from Brookside to Hollyoaks.
Jill from Crossroads also appeared at a wedding in Brookside, referencing the storyline where the motel burnt down. |

Michelle fowler mentioned Dynasty in early EastEnders - she suggested calling Martin Blake when he was born.
Dallas exists as a show in Dynasty - it is featured on the front of a magazine Sammy Jo is reading. Both Hollyoaks and Emmerdale were real in Brookside however. |

EE have mentioned watching Corrie. HO have mentioned watching EE. Also, EM was real in Brookside. Also, Hollyoaks and Brookside had crossovers with characters going from soap to soap. But even though EM was real in Brookside and Brookside had crossovers with HO, HO talked about EM once. JP said that nana would just ring before Emmerdale. He went on to later be on Emmerdale lol. |

I think it would be more interesting if they weren't real and actors could move between soaps playing the same characters if they wanted to.

The Roscoes had a calender in their garage with Michelle Keegan on it, which was odd considering she is most well-known for her role in Coronation Street

Hollyoaks and Brookside had a couple of crossovers. A regular character from Brookside later turned up as a regular in Hollyoaks and a couple of Brookside characters talked about going for a night out at 'The Loft nightclub in Chester' (The club in Hollyoaks). There was also an episode of Brookside in which Jacqui and Katie were in Chester and Kurt and Ruth from Hollyoaks walked past them.
Brookside was also mentioned in Hollyoaks. There's an episode from 1996 on youtube in which Cindy mentions 'Rosie Banks from Brookie'. |
