Hello, BBUS fans, I am a huge fan of BBUK. Unfortunately or fortunately I have discovered your version, which differs significantly on rules and expectation. Can someone explain what HoH, POV and BoB are? How do they fit together in the competition and anything important related to them. Many thanks in advance

HOH is the weekly competition where the winner (or this season, the 2 winners) become Head of Household. These are the only people who can nominate people for eviction.

The POV allows the HOH, nominees and 3 random other players to compete to try save themselves or someone nominated for eviction (similar to the save and replace tasks on the Channel 4 BBUK). In later seasons it has been used to 'backdoor' people to veto someone from eviction and nominate someone last minute as a shock and to preven tthem from competing for the veto beforehand.

BOB is a new competition just added this season where both sets of nominees from the 2 HOHs fight to save themselves to determine which HOH gets to stay in power for the week.

I recommend watching some earlier seasons to understand the format more clearly then come back to the more recent seasons. Season 6 is a good start: http://youtu.be/esaasiNXC7Q?list=PLb...W5jb9hu9JMDTrg

Thank you, you're very kind, makes a bit more sense, and I'll keep watching. I was just very confused by all the acronyms and the panic ensuring from various nominations!

There's usually only one HOH - head of household. Traditionally, when the head of household gets the key to the HOH room, they yell WHO WANTS TO SEE MY HOH ROOM? , then all the other housemates, (even enemies) have to gleefully run up and check out the room, the family photos, goody bags etc. The HOH room is also where people beg and make deals and pacts if they think they're at risk, or if they're unfortunate to be put up for eviction.

When two folk are nominated for eviction by HOH, they have the chance to take themselves "off the block" by competing in the POV - power of veto contest. The HOH, the two nominees and three randomly drawn housemates compete in this contest.

The POV can be used to save one nominee, or none. The winner of the POV decides, (but must be careful not to displease folk and put a target on his own back) for going against what the house wants. If the veto is used then someone else replaces the nominee and is put up for eviction.

Sometimes the two people up for eviction are pawns i.e. just being used (sometimes against their will) till the POV has been played, because the HOH has a slightly better chance to get rid of his real target without failing and becoming a target him/herself next week.

i'm a huge fan of our version, but the us version is a lot more engrossing to watch i think. i started with season 6 and then started from the beginning and carried on and i have yet to find a season i haven't enjoyed. the right person hardly ever wins though.

Haha that's what I always thought when I first started watching. I think it's a result of letting the players decide rather than the public

yeah, with our version it's usually so obvious who's going to be evicted. but with bbusa there's always a chance that something can happen that you don't expect.

Thank you, I've previously been put off by all the back stabbing and conniving that goes on in the BBUSA, I was content with the pantomime of BBUK. However now I can see the 'game' aspect of the US version for what it is, ie. that's how you play it! I am quite enjoying it. I am not really sure if there is a right person to win? I know it's the game, but not sure I want to be friends with any of them!
