Is because she isn't as vile as she was in the beginning. That's not to say she isn't vile now. She's probably about half as vile. But taking her warnings into consideration, it's no surprise.

As I've said on MULTIPLE threads, Helen is not vile and is just impulsive. She's learned to not be so quick on her reactions which is visible in the episodes as she is more laid back now. I think she was essential for the series and I hope she comes 4th or better.

Even if she was still mouthing off and being abusive the way she was in weeks 1-4 she still wouldn't finish last.

All she's learned is to listen to her warnings.
She was essential indeed, in taking away other people's airtime. Had she gone, we'd have seen a lot more of everyone else.
I feel that her time there was detrimental for everyone. Us the viewers, because she took away valuable airtime from everybody else. The housemates, because they had to put up with the earache. And herself, because she is really hated now. :/

Helen's most likeable quality is that her motormouth goes off like Basil Fawlty when she gets wound up, and as long as she's not hurting people, that's very funny.

Any modification in her behaviour, had it have been because she had an epiphany of some sort would have been admirable. But we know that she was threatened with possible removal and that's the only reason why we've seen a change.

She wasn't 'essential' for the series at all.

She dominated everything with her odious presence and hindered some of the weaker ones from flourishing. They've all been gotten rid of now so we'll never know how they'd have been with 'new and improved Helen'

If ashleigh had called one of the focus group a "knob" as helen did, thread after thread would have been started accusing her of being an "immature brat "(probably that, if not that something similar), but helen says it and everyone is so inured to her rudeness that not an eyelid is blinked.

Well maybe you see it as that but I see it as her listening to her warnings. She's still the same person IMO.

I'd say the reason why some might 'like' her is because they are not full of hate towards a reality tv show contestant they don't even know or have a full and wholly representative picture of. I appreciate that may sound a bit far fetched to some...

I suspect they might have a bit of perspective on how virtually all human beings are neither all good nor all bad, and so don't share the virtiol, and internet outrage that others do.

There is definitely hate in many a thread on her. I can't see how any objective person could look at them and not agree. Honestly.

^^^^ this 100%!!! Some people are so unforgiving it really is depressing sometimes. In life I may not forget but I always forgive, life is far too short to dwell on bitterness over something someone did wrong. People are so unforgiving, wouldn't it be nice if we, as a society, praised people for changing for the good regardless of any perceived motives for doing so.

I agree completely, she was horrendous at the start, so any reduction of that vileness is gonna make her look like a saint, comparatively. She's still a nasty piece of work.

To be fair, we can be don't we sometimes evict a relatively inoffensive HM simply to save another, or more dastardly, evict a relatively inoffensive HM simply to p@ss the house off and shake things up We can be b@stards, I've seen many posts that are judgemental, mean-spirited, nasty, vile, aggressive, and downright weird. To suggest that the public are all really nice, decent human beings is quite a lie especially when we've all heard the chants every Friday!

She is as vile, she just doesn't have a target. Nobody in there dares breathe a word around her because they know she will go back to how she was.

I remember a few weeks back, people saying that they were liking Helen and that she seemed nicer, but then that changed after the Christmas task where Christopher didn't choose her. People seem to have short memories until something comes along that makes them remember, like above.
