I just thought I'd start this thread to hear everyone's opinions in which soap is best

Good stories and interesting characters. It just keeps me entertained and I love the drip drip drip of so many brilliant stories all at different stages of development which will all boil over at some point.
The pacing is really good. Hollyoaks and Corrie I occasionally tune into. Corrie seems to be stuck in a rut with nothing of interest happening and Hollyoaks continues to turn to sensationalism every single week. Anything slightly "dramatic" loses all effect. |

Eastenders and Hollyoaks.
If you try not to take Hollyoaks seriously it is very good, quick pace and dramatic and just something different to what all the other soaps try to do. Eastenders is fantastic, if it like this in the summer imagine autumn and winter will be epic! Emmerdale and Coronation Street are so boring however as in watch ability they have actually improved slightly. |

EastEnders.
Plenty of real storylines now in full swing which is making each episode interesting and with regular developments to keep us entertained. - The pacing of Lucy's murder aftermath has been done very well as some weeks there's a heavy focus on it while other weeks it kind of moves to background but never completely disappears so it still feels very fresh and ongoing. - Carol's cancer story has been so well, the acting and writing has been spot on. I understand Carol can be a hard character to like but that's one of the reason's this story has worked so well for me, it's simply showing the effects the different stages of cancer can have on the patient and the family. The story isn't going after the sympathy vote, it's just very honest with how it's being told. - The Carters, always entertaining to watch as they can be funny, dramatic, camp and very likeable but there's regular underlying tones of something much darker ahead for all of them and I'm looking forward to the downfall. Linda has gone from one of the least liked to my favourite Carter. - Sharon Watts is back! While she may not be back to her legendary best yet, she's turned a corner and I really hope we see her come out on top. - New characters: Les and Pam have slotted in really well and there's something very dark about them, especially Les, he gives me the creeps but is great to watch. - Twists: I've lost count how many shock twists there's been this year, it's really keeping the viewers on their toes and is making those 'duff duff' moments great again. While not every episode is high octane drama, the show overall is in a really good place at the moment and I haven't missed an episode in months! Just over a year ago I'd nearly given up all hope. |

I thought the gene aspects were the worst part rather than the great bits.
Sonia whining about Martin not fancying her without tits because of a hypothetical situation and Bianca finding more reasons to whinge and shout. Horrid. |
