Google Now Launcher now available for android phones 4.1 and above
Google Now Launcher is now available for all android devices running 4.1 and above.
Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...droid.launcher This link to a phone arena article explains what Google Now Launcher has to offer http://www.phonearena.com/news/Googl...id-4.1_id58901 I just thought I would post this incase anyone wanted to try it. I have it on my Samsung Note 3 and it is a nice change to the Samsung software. |

Hmmm... I must be missing something if this is a good thing.
Before installing it: Five home screens - each containing 36 apps/folders Nicely sized icons Fast After installing it: Two home screens - each containing 30 apps/folders Mahoosive icons Slowed down to a halt I have removed it now as I cannot see the benefit. If anyone can help me see the light, then please let me know! PS: Hudl user |

If it's the same as on Nexus 5, you can drag an app icon to the right and a new homescreen will be available. So you can have more than 2. I personally prefer the large icons now. Had to get used to it in the first couple of days, but wouldn't want to go back. Can't say anything about slowing down as it is the pre-installed launcher on my phone.

I have had it side loaded for a while now as well, so I am glad its now officially available. I tried a number of popular launchers and i just prefer this one. Simple and effective, with Google Now a swipe away.
I like it so much I may be leaning toward a stock Google handset for my upgrade, may be the successor to the Nexus 5 whatever that may be. |

I tried to install it on my S4, it isn't having any of it. Installs fine but it doesn't appear as a launcher in my settings. It only shows the touchwiz launcher. When I launch the Google Now launcher from the app drawer it asks me to clear default launchers, opens up the settings and the clear default button is blanked out.
I tried installing Nova launcher, and it shows nova and touchwiz, but still no Google Now. Strange. |
