Initially I was surprised this chain sells booze but given that they stock German wheat beer (Franziskaner) I was pleasantly surprised. A new one has opened near me but it isn't allowed to sell alcohol yet and may not be for many months according to a couple of shopworkers I asked. Does anyone know if this is true and if so why?

The one near me sells booze, I'm not sure what would prevent them from doing so. Do they need a license or something?

I expect they decided to not to apply for the licence yet or they was late applying. i bet they will get one before Christmas.

You need a licence to sell alcohol, so perhaps it hasn't gone through yet.

No doubt. Alcohol must be a big seller for ANY shop at that time of year especially.
