10 years since Band Aid 20
This Christmas is 10 years since Band Aid 20 released Do They Know It's Christmas which means it's also 30 years since the original.
Could we be looking at another release of this song this year? |

Surely the more significant thing is the 30th anniversary of the original rather than the 10th anniversary of the 3rd version of the song.
Strange choice of thread title...... |

The last thing we need from a music perspective is a collection of squeaky voiced teens from "talent" shows crucifying a song that was half crucified to begin with. Because that's what will happen in order to get maximum exposure. But I guess that's the whole point - if it takes that to raise gazillions for a good cause then go ahead, fill your boots. We suffered Status Quo and Marilyn, after all, so pain thresholds are high...

The X Factor Finalists 2014 feat. Ella Henderson, Olly Murs, Little Mix, Sam Bailey, One Direction, Union J & Rebecca Ferguson - Do They Know It's Christmas. ![]() Might as well put £10 on this being #1 in December. |

Yes - According to today's 'The Sun' there will be a Band Aid 30 version of
'Do They Know It's Christmas?'. Apparently, One Direction have already signed up to sing on it. No doubt other contenders will be - Olly Murs, Leona Lewis, Lily Allen, Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Susan Boyle, Pharrell Williams, and just about anyone else, who has had UK Hit Singles & Albums in the last 2 or 3 Years. Let's face it - it is the only way that Bob Geldof can get into the Charts, as even before the 1984 Band Aid both he & the Boomtown Rats were way past being big, (or even medium), UK Chart Acts..... |

Will the new version have the multi-millionaires crying at television images of starving children? Also, will Boro threaten the throw his toys out the pram (like last time) if he doesn't get to sing "Thank God tonight it's then insteeead of yew"?

The best thing about Band Aid 20 was Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead playing on it!
![]() Though there were some fairly dodgy vocals on it... This time I would like to hear it with a bit more of an electronic vibe to it. |
