If you have a qualifying sim (more details on Hotuk deals of the week if interested).

Just noting how quickly prices can fall of such phones, its only 2 years old, and was £400 IIRC on realease.

Very tempted to pick one up and stick a zerolemon battery, and a rom on it, though I think my Moto G might be better now.

Imagine picking up a brand new S5 in two years for £150 or so, bonkers isnt it.

That's a crazy price. I had one for a few years and they're great phones.

I'm a bit out of the Android custom rom game, but have they made any that support the new 128gb micro sd cards?

If you could get a decent, streamlined rom for the S3 with a good battery and 128gb of Micro SD to play with, would you really need one of the newer phones ?

Well according to this site or does support the 128 GB SANDDISK Micro SD card.

Nice.

It's still got 1gb ram as well, so with the quad core processor, there's really not much out today that it wouldn't run and run well. I'm quite happy with my iPhone but I certainly wouldn't have a problem going back to an S3 at that price if ever I had to.

Price is £160 unsubsidised which is a still quite incredible.
Looks to me like it is having a revamp to become the S5 Mini.

So I guess this is essentially 'final stock'.

Yep clearing stock, I think I read Samsung have stopped any further developments for the S3's so it won't likely get any further updates

Yes, buying a S3 today versus a Moto G 4G would be a very strange decision.

£214 on amazon UK for a phone that won't get any more updates?? er, no thanks.

But it won't stop working. And at £129 it pisses all over the G.

This whole notion of "won't get any more updates" is a bit moot if you take some time to become familiar with Android modding and custom roms.

Well of course that's true but it's more than a notion - the buyer has to decide if that's an issue for them. Flashing Roms isn't for everyone though.

It's a great deal for sure for £129 probably not nearly so tempting at £200 though.

Bit like buying an XP computer if you ask me. You're simply buying obsolescence which then makes it anything but a cheap phone.

I would have to agree, the moto 4g at similar money is a more intelligent choice.

As long as you are happy.

I know I wouldn't have bought an old phone that's seen it's time and has no prospect of future support from it's manufacturer or the ability to take advantage of 4G as it rolls out.

Everything the Moto 4G would have done...

Well yes, but given IT techs who are very happy rebuilding servers with Linux and configuring, don't go near flashing ROMs on their mobile devices - the number of people who do this is quite small

I remember installing a Cyogen build of AOSP 4 onto my ZTE Blade. It worked better than I expected - but it wasn't straightforward at all.

Lack of official updates means security issues (see the Fake-ID problem), and no LTE/4G radio is the killer as it will become more and more important in the next 12 months.

Or you could have paid £299 and had a Nexus 5 - even better, smart money for a smartphone.
