Would you like to see Jimmy McGovern write for any soap?
He has produced 3 of my best ever BBC dramas... do you think he would work in a soap (baring in mind he did write for Brookside at one point.)
He has been behind the success of... The Street 2006 - 2009 Accused - 2010 - 2012 Common - 2014 |

He wouldn't do it now but, yes, I definitely would like him to.

He actually wrote one (and only one) episode of Corrie, in August 1990.

I would love to see him write for a new soap that was on THREE times a week only with a medium sized star filled cast. The best actors of the uk to produce high standard acting. Obviously some stars wouldn't stay more than a year but at least because of the pace they could be replaced by another actor properly instead of the rush culture soaps have.
Proper stories about proper working people like the shows mentioned in my first post. Also fresh talent could be discovered. Talent people KNOW will do well. |

It would never happen. I reckon McGovern wouldn't approve of the sensationalist route all soaps have taken over the past number of years.

McGovern wrote probably the greatest, funniest episode of Brookside ever - think it'll be on you tube somewhere under Sheila and Kathy's night out - but I agree with others on here, I'd imagine soaps today would be a total no go area for him simply because he's just too good for them.
