Nexus 7 2013 Warranty
Terry N

How long is the warranty on a Nexus 7 2013?

I went to the Asus website to fill in the form to send it for repair, it said it's out of warranty and I'd have to pay to get it fixed. Only bought it last September.

I expect it has a 12 month warranty and the website is giving you the wrong information .

Did you buy it from Google Play or a 3rd party? If it's Google then call them directly. Contact details are here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/table/6068053

They really are excellent. When I had a problem with my N4 recently they sent replacement and I got it the next day.

I called them and they came out with a load of nonsense about when it was manufactured. So now I need proof of purchase which I don't have. Might as well throw it in the bin.

You don't necessarily need any paperwork from whoever you bought it from. If you paid for it by a debit/credit card and it was the only thing you purchased in that transaction then the entry on the bank/card statement showing that transaction should do.

I'd have to go to the bank and get the statement, it only shows a couple of months transactions online. Not sure if I could be bothered with all the messing about. Why don't Asus have a record of when and where it was sold?

Unless you bought it from ASUS directly all they will know is that particular device was supplied to a certain retailer on a certain date. They won't know what happened to it after that, unless you were required to register the purchase with them before you could walk out the shop with it (or the online equivalent as appropriate).

I bought it online from Curry's. Would an email screenshot of the transaction do them?

I've never bought from Currys online but if you have access to you're account then you should be able to print or create a PDF receipt.

As Currys are the retailer you should approach them first regarding faults anyway, they may sort it out for you or they may advise you do contact the manufacturer.

Emailed them again and they said this.

"Please contact the company you bought the device from and ask them for a VAT invoice. This is the acceptable form of POP along with shop till receipts. They are legally obliged to give you this upon request."

They won't accept a PDF reciept. What a bunch of dicks. It's not like I'm trying to steal all their millions.

Why don't you do as you should just take it back to Currys? They are responsible for the first year of the warranty as the contract is with the shop and not the company.

Also it's easy enough to fake a PDF so they are just protecting themselves.

Because taking something back to Currys after nearly a year would be like trying to get blood out of a stone.

Did you buy it online?

I phoned them and asked for a VAT receipt, telling the guy on the phone they wouldn't accept the pdf receipt I had. He said he could print one off and send it. I asked him about five times if it was a VAT receipt he was printing and not the same as the one I had. He said yes. I got the same receipt I have in the post today.

Know what? Got it fixed! Brought it to Curry's and they sent it away. Took three weeks, but it's back now.

Yes but I was resigned to paying to get it fixed. The docket thing I got from them on taking it over said 'customer to pay'.
But the tablet came today in the post. So no charge.
