Anyone have any recent Good Morning Britain vs BBC Breakfast vs Sky News Sunrise ratings?

I agree. The BBC should learn from ITV. The trailers on ITV always look highly polished. The BBC ones look like they've been found in a Woolworths dump bin found in a cellar of Wilkinsons covered in cobwebs by comparison. I really don't know why the BBC struggle to make decent trailers. Having said that, "Our Zoo" is represented well by its trailer, which is a rarity.
I agree, ITV's trailers tend to make their dramas look a lot better than they actually are whereas BBC's make them look a lot worse. That said I've thought both The Village and Our Zoo trailers were great, and BBC's season drama trailers tend to pretty good. What plays a big role in it, imo, is the choice of music, ITV use the better and more suitable songs, I wonder if its a cost thing, BBC don't want to be seen paying out for the rights just for a trailer.

Celebrity Chase currently down to return on Saturday 30th August at 6.45pm according to ITV Press Centre. Suggests a 7.45pm start for X Factor which would put it directly head to head with Doctor Who.

Celebrity Chase is a decent enough choice of lead-in. Should beat Tumble at least. Bit surprised they've opted for it to lead into X Factor again - it did fine last year (much better than Stepping Out) but thought they might have opted for something that skews younger with Chase elsewhere. It doesn't say how many episodes there are so no idea if it's running all Autumn or not.

It's money defiantly.

Don't think there is anything wrong with the BBC trailers. The "British Original Drama" trails look good. I think the latest trails have been equally as powerful as itv. There's no difference.

I would also be interested to see these figures, has GMB started to recover or is it still in absolute free-fall?
The last set of figures I saw had GMB around 450,000

Should get a good audience against Tumble. I can't imagine Tumble will survive another series.

Just looking back to 2012 when The X Factor had a lead in and out from Red or Black?. And what an almighty failure that was. It flopped and pulled XF down with it. It was so dire (RorB) that I recoded XF to watch later.

If I were ITV, I would keep well clear of any other Cowell vehicle. Other than XF UK and BGT he doesn't have a very good success rate.

The Chase is million times better lead in to XF than Red or Black?. I assume Jonathan Ross will be after Xf?

I agree with you - I dont how people pick out one set of trailers as better than another. They look pretty much the same to me as well.

I think, generalising, the BBC have had some pretty bad "show killing" trailers recently. Reflex had an awful trailer. The new New Tricks trailer is unappealing. Most of the weaker trails appear on the BBC.

For instance, "In The Club" trailers suggest it's a light, fluffy drama with the bubbly "Baby Love" music. Yet it is further from the truth. If you entice viewers with a misleading trailer it can turn people off in the same way as it puts a viewer off from watching if a trailer is bad!

Overall, I do agree with you that trailers on both sides are good, it's just I feel ITV have better polished trails on a more consistent basis.

The trail for "That Puppet Game Show" was absolutely dreadful!

"Doctor Who" has never faced "The X Factor" before in a long term slot battle. The only thing about the programme being pitched late is this clash. I can't see "Doctor Who" coming off well with this one and it will dent the overnights badly. Likewise "The X Factor" is likely to lose a million or so by going head to head. There isn't anywhere for the shows to go I suppose.

Only Connect's first BBC Two series starts Monday 1st September, 8.30pm. ITV's Chasing Shadows starts on Thursday 4th at 9pm, against BBC Two's Castles in the Sky. ITV appear to have completely given up on Tuesdays, airing Teleshopping at 9pm, it's almost certainly an error* but still funny. *Or a documentary on teleshopping, which is almost as bad.

Oh and X Factor returns, 19:45-21:00 on the Saturday, Celebrity Chase before, Through the Keyhole after. Also 20:00-21:00 on the Sunday. As previously mentioned Doctor Who starting at the same time, 19:45.

I still maintain that Doctor Who will rate well against XF, except the roles revered this year from DW 50th. I think DW will still manage 7m+ for the launch then average around 6m-6.4m against The X Factor. They have completely different audience.

DW will survive and timeshift well. I expect Peter Capaldi's first episode to consolidate north of 9.5m.

Interesting! Wasn't Dallas originally moved to 11pm for it's last season?

Yeah. I can't think of many examples of shows that were dumped out of primetime only to find themselves back in primetime, can you? It's a pretty unique beast in that respect.

I think Five realised they messed up because it was an insane timeshifter last season. Normally a show goes to 11PM to die, but Dallas refused to do that and the audience stuck with it throughout, but watched on their terms. Should have been moved to 10PM in the first place and the difficulty now might be persuading those viewers that got into the habit of recording it to watch live/as live.

If you're interested there's a special screening happening in London and you can win tickets. They are being released in dribs and drabs but keep an eye on the @dramaon5 Twitter account for details.

It's this documentary:

http://www.itv.com/presscentre/ep1we...s-teleshopping

Also Piers Morgan's Life Stories back on Friday 5th. Thought that wasn't supposed to be back until next year?

Love of Dogs and Chasing Shadows both start Thursday 4th September. England v Norway on Wednesday 3rd (against the launch of Our Zoo and the return of Grand Designs).
