ITV's Love Your Garden appealed to 3.39m (17.0%) at 8pm (149,000/0.7% on +1), while Kids Behind Bars intrigued 2.75m (13.3%) at 9pm (280k/0.7%).

Much better for LYG

I think it will do really well and should give Ch5 a 4m+ consolidated rating for the 1st episode at least. It should bring in a strong demo too.
I agree that it will start well. But when viewers twig that the Bruce Wayne character stays at the age of 12 for the whole series I fear ratings will start slumping sharply...

ITV teatime game show #The21stQuestion lost 390k for its second episode, drawing 1.57m/13.9%. Pointless romped to victory with 3.04m/25.5%.
I think to ensure Pointless doesn't keep getting a boost when The Chase has a break, they should keep Tipping Point and The Chase in their slots, but test out new gameshows earlier in the day and if a successful one comes along - try it in the 5pm slot.

ITV order full series of The Delivery Man: http://www.comedy.co.uk/news/story/0...n_darren_boyd/

The pilot has yet to air, but given that a full series has been commissioned, good chance now that the pilot will air at some point.

And I wonder if the lack of Channel 5 HD on DTT will affect ratings as well, with viewers preferring to acquire the HD version in other ways?

Quite a big gap between Emmerdale and EE this week and almost pushing EE to a record low. And even during the clash period Emmerdale pretty much kept all of it's audience.

Can't believe C5 have got Gotham. Disappointing really as it's supposed to be the big new show of the season and C5 have recently been treating their US imports appalling. For example: Under The Dome, Dallas, Person of Interest, Once Upon A Time, The Walking Dead to name a few.

No doubt they will end up wrecking Gotham before it's even started. I would have much preferred Sky to have got it. They're generally pretty good at treating US imports well.

New BBC1 drama #InTheClub launched disappointingly with 3.98m/19.1%, however this was enough to win the 9pm slot.
9:36 AM - 6 Aug 2014

Ouch! Not a good start. Looks like STV may have took a few viewers off possibly, but even so, that's a good million lower than your typical Tuesday BBC1 drama, share a few points lower as well.
Hopefully it picks up.

Two options for these US imports:

1) Sky Atlantic - starting under one million, potentially remaining under one million if it is not well received in the US, although growth is possible. See: Game of Thrones

2) Channel 4 or 5 - start high and then drop if reception in US is bad; but plateau at a respectable level if reviews are good. See: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'd much prefer the second option. I won't repeat what I've already said about Game of Thrones, but fact of the matter is that these shows are always likely to start at least higher on terrestrial which gives it a better chance of succeeding over here.

Which is a good thing.

I think that sounds really smart. ITV might feel that they'll saturate the schedules with quizzing, but if they test new shows at 2pm, have non-quiz at 3pm, that might feel ok.

I disagree. What makes you say Under the Dome been treated badly? It remains a key part of the summer schedule and will be back very soon, more or less the same time it started last year.

Once Upon a Time was incredibly well looked after. Marketing on ITV for the launch, episode specific trails practically every week and the first season had big Disney film lead-ins most weeks. But the viewing figures dipped from the second season onwards and it was too expensive to be worth acquiring further rights. Viewers lost interest despite Five's very best efforts.

Dallas was given every chance but after a very promising start became hugely disappointing, as it did in America. Admittedly it should have been pushed back to 10PM first before being ditched from primetime altogether.

Person of Interest was mismanaged, definitely. I'll give you that one. The Walking Dead also to an extent in that the move to 5* was badly handled but it was no longer pulling in figures strong enough for the main channel.

No doubt they will end up wrecking Gotham before it's even started. I would have much preferred Sky to have got it. They're generally pretty good at treating US imports well.
Sky aren't perfect, just look at how they treat new seasons of The Simpsons, supposedly a flagship show. Also ditched Supernatural despite perfectly satisfactory viewing figures.

Five can bring Gotham to a much wider audience. And I expect it will be aggressively promoted right across the Viacom family. It will be very well looked after.

These clashes seem to hurt EE more than Emmerdale
Head start.

Emmerdale: 5.43m (30.2%) {+1: 192k (1.0%)]
EastEnders: 4.05m (21.3%) [+3: 561k (3.9%)]

During the clash period, Emmerdale had 5.39m (28.3%).

Holby City: 3.93m (19.9%)
EE collapses again.

The decline begins and I can only see it dropping further. With any luck, this will make ITV think long and hard before pushing out any old gameshow guff...when they think about it and get it right, they do a good job.

Seems like people gave In The Club a wide berth.

Yes the Simpsons is treated dreadfully, again we have had another long break and the next new ep turns up this Saturday to prop up Got To Dance completely out the blue. If it wasn't for the series link I have I wouldn't know and I'm sure many others are the same.

They have also been poor with Glee this year drip feeding EPs in the beginning until leaving it off for a huge break until it returned last month, yes I know not many watch now but the viewers that do still deserve better.

That's head starts for you.
Yep it will be Emmerdales turn for a crisis on Thursday, Hollyoaks the stand out soap at the minute with another 1m plus E4 episode.

I feel another flop coming on. I hope I'm proved wrong though.
Let's give it a chance at least, Darren Boyd was good in Spy on Sky1.

As for last night I though In The Club would do a lot better but it was a decent show so hopefully there won't be too much drop off, not that it has much room to.

Not surprised In The Club got such low audience figures. Who on earth launches a drama in August? It's like the BBC want this show to fail so that Kay Mellor can focus on The Syndicate!

I'm surprised the syndicate is getting a third series, the second rated lower than the first and was nowhere as good

Doctow Who ends on the 8th so there will be 6 Saturdays before Christmas. They'll either have it start on the 15th and run through Christmas or split it - 6 episodes with Strictly, small break, then 7 with The Voice.

I've had another idea which is probably very unlikely, but could they hold Atlantis back until next year and air Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell on Saturdays? There's 7 Saturdays, including 27th December, and iirc while it's (a lot) darker than the usual Saturday fantasy drama I don't think there's anything that would prevent it airing before 9pm, especially since it would be airing at 8pm not 6pm.

It's unlikely but imo it has more chance of working on a Saturday than a weekday, since Poldark will be taking the Sunday slot early next year and there isn't really room on Sundays this year if they want to avoid Downton/IAC.

It was down slightly in overnights (5.23m v 5.40m) but was up in officials (6.29m v 6.01m) and ended with its highest ever rating 5.47m/6.71m, so its renewal wasn't really surprising.

As for In The Club, I'm surprised it did so poorly, but hopefully it puts a stop to those who say BBC can put any drama on Tuesday and it'll do well. I didn't see it promoted much though, I've seen the trailers for Our Girl and The Driver more and they don't even have airdates yet.

I wasn't surprised The Syndicate rated well for both series, with the second doing better than the first.

Yes. Shows do well because people want to watch them in the first place.
