Judge Rinder is a hit.

A lot of love for Suspects here on DS.

I expected last night's episode to rate worse purely because it was the second part of a two parter. It could close the gap with timeshift and hopefully bounce back next week.

Still doing a lot better than it was last series so maybe Frow was right to keep the faith. Too early to tell though.”

Family Guy would be good but it would be limited to post 9pm for new episodes and repeats if it were to go to 5.

I quite like Suspects, as I mentioned before, I think it could grow into a solid hit if they stick with it but I don't want every drama that could be commissioned by the channel to be that way although Paul Marquess mentioned in an interview he's developing a medical series in the same vein which would be interesting

Sex??

I hope we get to see this grilling. The interviewers are usually way too soft.

Worst of all - this will probably even further delude the likes of Jay Hunt that 4 is doing well!

Channel 4 has really lost it's way with the mainstream audience, instead deciding to pander to the Radio Times television elite audience. What a mess.

I thought the BBC Trust were going to vote on it over the summer but the summer seems to have passed now without any further news on the matter. Given that we have recently heard from the BBC Trust that the age of a typical BBC1 viewer has risen from 56 to 59, I think the Trust may well be quite cold on the idea of an online BBC3.

EDIT to add:

Average age viewers - BBC1 59; BBC2 60; BBC4 61. BBC3, only channel getting younger, is 33

Found this article saying average age of BBC1 viewer in 2009 was 52:

Could these award ceremonies be any further up C4's arse?

Totally meaningless. Easily had the worst year of all the terrestrials. Should have gone to BBC Two.

Hmmm? This is seriously worrying news for BBC One. They need to improve this. The average age of the population of the uk is about 40 I think.

So they need to get it down to early 50's again I say. Thats a lot harder than it sounds!

Danny Cohen is surely a complete lightweight, tie a string to him someone before he floats away...

And the head of BBC1, which receives close to £1.5billion of public money, should expect to be getting a tough time with the state of that channel at the moment.

I think Mark Wright will provide a draw to the show and a younger audience that may not be used to watching. TOWIE figures seemed to have attracted attention to reality shows previously. I think that's a good signing, in fact I think he would probably draw a younger audience to BBC one in general on another show but I don't know what his presenting skills are like.

Be nice if Danny Cohen went to a good hairdresser. he always looks like he fell asleep in his suit and woke up for an interview!!

Love had a lot of success over the years, often with controversial docs but they really hit the jackpot with Bake Off. Their only real dabble with heavily formatted entertainment before that was Cirque De Celebrite for Sky1 way back around 2006/2007 time.

The concern for The Voice is a bit like X Factor US season 3 - they pinned the shows revival to one person (Britney/Kylie), it didn't really play out that way in the end and then they left to be replaced by a far inferior "star". It's a bugger for momentum and it's why IMO X Factor needs to hold onto Cowell/Cole next year, almost regardless of how this year plays out.

And of course Rinder is growing from that first week unlike most of those shows. 1.04m yesterday (inc +1). Come November, ideally itv would be running:

2pm: Judge Rinder
3pm: Dickinson's Real Deal
4pm: Tipping Point
5pm: The Chase

Which would make for a fairly decent afternoon.

Every year there's stuff about Strictly going for younger viewers and every year the show gets about a 10% 16-34 profile. Replacing Brucie might change the profile a bit I guess.

As Mark Wright has been utterly unable to draw an audience even on itv2, I doubt he'll start doing it for BBC1.

For some reason ITV seem to be repeating Jo Frost Family matters at 12:30pm for the 1st September.

Are they blind? Did they not see how badly it rated? Are they giving it another go to get a record low? As many of us said they should move the news forward to the 12:30pm slot to get the jump on BBC News at One.

The mind just boggles.
