With respect mate how can you say that if you haven't even seen the interview? Wakey wakey MGEITF uploaders ! Nothing new since yesterday morning. Like a whole day and a half at the festival didn't happen.

Not that I have a problem personally with tough questioning. They chose news/current affairs presenters this time around presumably for that reason. Nobody wants another Boyd Hilton situation where arses are kissed and the channel reps can just talk about their hits for an hour.

At least Frasier is entertaining, unlike stuff like DOND which must be the most mindnumbing game show ever and whose ratings are sinking.

That makes for pretty grim reading for ITV.

Trying to work out which of the above they would be most disappointed with. Obviously Dancing on Ice's decision to bring back past contestants for its final series was a disaster as I can't imagine it would have done as badly as that with an all new lineup. I suppose whilst not a flop by any means Surprise Surprise didn't really go on as expected after a very promising first season, maybe that will hurt the most. Take Me Out around the same in Total People but a more attractive audience profile. Splash most could have seen coming, although many in here didn't. The Cube and Amazing Greys don't deserve to come back with those numbers.

Yes, not the best of reading for ITV. And with ITV wheeling out Stars in Their Eyes and Celebrity Squares(doesn't even have to be converted to a celeb show ), I wonder how long it will be before we get 321. There are one or two "bins" in that list

Well. there's one thing to be said for DW - it's brought this thread back to life

On the face of it, with the hype, anticipation & pre-publicity, 6.8m seems an underwhelming figure - but - hype, anticipation & publicity excluded & just comparing ratings to everything else at the moment, I think it's a fairly decent result. And, of course, the timeshift will pack a huge punch in the officials.

I am a very casual viewer of DW, and, for the first half, I found my attention wandering a little at times - it was really only the slick production values & the performance of Peter Capaldi that kept me watching.
DW has become a cultish beast that is in danger of eating itself, there were definitely times last night (as a casual viewer) that I felt like I wasn't "getting" it. As a primetime show it needs to remain accessible. Too much time was spent around the issue of the age change and the "fluidity" of marriage, to the point where it became clunky & obvious and interrupted the flow of the narrative.

As a non-xfactor viewer - will it hold on to me in the same way as Merlin & Atlantis did? - only time will tell. Peter Capaldi was captivating but I found the character of Carla annoying - if too many episodes make me feel like I should know the history to be able to follow the current, I may lose interest "again".

Amazing Greys has already been scrapped.

Is anyone intending to post a breakdown of DW last night? I think it would be interesting to see whether it started out with a ratings spike but gradually put off casual viewers because of the slow pace.

We can't really say too much about the rights and wrongs without seeing it for ourselves IMO. All we can say for certain is that one or two senior BBC personnel did not cover themselves in glory in the aftermath.

DS reports 1.43M for CBB. So a relatively large 260K watched on +1 to bring the total up to 1.69M tapechecked. Social media impact ?

The other 1.6M (rounded) figure reported will be for the full slot with +1, i.e. including 21:10-21:15 which was mostly a 5 News Update followed by weather and adverts.

Hope this clears up any confusion regarding three different figures for the same show.

The figure was arguably a million light for comfort after all the hype and it will be a huge surprise if it doesn't fall next week.
I agree making it too deep and complex is going to alienate casual viewers and the whole idea of Saturday night is to pull in as many viewers as possible for entertainment purposes. You need as much Star Wars as Star Trek to make mass entertainment despite what the Who cult might want.
Who has had a startling year, from the introduction of Hurt through the 50th and Christmas regeneration. To a degree those episodes have sold themselves though, and the test is sustaining interest through twelve long weeks. I have some concern we could see some very low overnights. I hope Im wrong.

Surprise Surprise hasn't aired a series this year yet. Series 2 aired last Autumn to similar numbers as series 1. That rating is for the one off Mother's Day special.

I think Catchphrase and Off Their Rockers are the biggest disappointments. Both are down quite a way and whilst some decline was inevitable after the high starts they got off to last year (before dropping off later in their runs) but they'd have hoped for better than they got. I wonder if Off Their Rockers would have declined as much had it not aired midway through the hour after a declining Catchphrase? It's been renewed though so they can't have been that disappointed I suppose.

Splash was I suppose inevitable, especially against the strong bit of The Voice. Take Me Out's small decline is probably down to the collapse of its lead in. Takeaway's small decline is probably due to competition from The Voice too. Family Fortunes declined because it was sandwiched between the declining DOI.

Very disappointing that everything so far is down though. They'll be hoping for better this Autumn.

I love this thread, on one hand DW is a kids show, on the other people are saying it's too much, like it was Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev or something- hey I think BBC1 should show that on a Saturday night.

This is a programme Worldwide are making a huge amount of money from. It's UK overnight ratings really don't matter anymore.

At the risk of sounding repetitive is there any more news on the current New Tricks rating? And a breakdown of the new Who?

Maybe not to you or in terms of the future of the show but they still matter to BBC One as a channel.

Something tells me that's a BARB issue, with timeshift again being attributed to the latest repeat airing.

So that's 2 soap actors added to the Strictly lineup - it's really not looking good in terms of star appeal at all, and I think that could be reflected in a downturn in ratings.

New Tricks on Monday could be quite interesting - it is moved to 2235 in Scotland because of the referendum debate on BBC1 Scotland but the overnight figure will include the Scottish audience for the debate because it's done by the time slot (ie 9-10 pm in the rest of the UK). The STV debate peaked at about 900,000 so it could add nearly a million to NT. The figures will be adjusted when the officials come out.

It's almost as if they are trying to replicate the CBB casting model that has been used successfully for the past four or five series but with slightly worse people if that makes sense ? Mark Wright for example of all the constructed reality TV stars they could have chosen is a terrible signing.

The other problem which C14E touched upon is Strictly appeals to a different audience so it may not prove effective for them. For me a bit of a gamble on the BBC's part to try and take it younger post-Brucie because if the 16-34s don't turn up and chances are they will be preoccupied with the return of Cowell and Cole on the other side, the ratings could easily suffer if they alienate some of the core older viewership.
