I wonder if ITV are planning to put 'Sunday Night at the Palladium before XF!? I would think so.

Should be mean a strong night for ITV with:

7pm Night at Palladium
8pm The X Factor
9pm Downton Abbey

Depending on how good Palladium is, it could prevent Strictly for completely dominating the 7pm slot. That is if ITV put some real effort into it.


Both Operation Wild and Secrets from the Clink were fascinating tonight, however only one of them will be above 3m given the lead in. Its the BBC's night tonight.

If Palladium goes on Sundays, could we see Surprise Surprise on Saturday?

I suspect Surprise Surprise will either go on Sunday's following after or preceding Palladium, or fill the Wednesday 8pm slot.

The problem with ITV in this slot is that they seem to fill it with middling LE programmes All Star Mr and Mrs and Big Star Little Star which are easy opposition and fairly weak in the schedule.

Really looking forward to seeing Bake Off's rating tomorrow!

Surprise Surprise with Holly Willoughby aspires to be middling.

Well it usually does about 4m against Strictly's 10m so stronger than the others.

It seems to me that most of the LE formats on both main channels are down and struggling - not a great background to be launching Tumble into.

Wouldn't that be considerably down from last years August launch on BBC2?


A weekend of awful weather, being hyped as the next Strictly, ITV's weakest Saturday line-up in a long time, following immediately after the Commonwealth games with loads of promotion and a Games personality fronting the show. Both Splash and The Jump performed well in their debut series suggesting some continuing interest in these kinds of shows. And as for other LE shows - XF, BGT, SCD, Takeaway all down fairly small amounts, I'm A Celebrity and The Voice up,...

I think Tumble has quite a bit going for it.

As stated previously, GBBO is not a month early, it's only two weeks earlier than it was last year (and previous years). And a mid-August start did it no harm at all.

And don't you think that the BBC has some responsibility to show some decent, new programming for those who aren't still in this "summer mode" of yours? Or should the BBC be forever focussed on ratings?

Yes, thankfully it was unchanged, as promised.

And with 12 bakers, rather a lot to cram in on the first programme.

The Link did well on BBC1 and I think it is returning.

Hopefully not. Spending £120 million on the long awaited return of a treasured contract to then play it off on the second channel against ITV's strongest soap clad night and against Eastenders would surely be folly. FA Cup games should stay where they are on Saturdays and Sundays-strong daytime shares or useful early primetime weapons.
Presumably BT has the live replays do they? Still haven't seen anything confirming this.

Curiosity value certainly and if the weather is bad the curious will increase-probably more relevant is the week two figure. Splash did pretty well in its first series for a show where hardly anything happened at all, so on that basis Tumble should get 5 times the amount of viewers .

Surely the best possible time to launch if it's a strong format and other LE shows are tired as you suggest (not sure that is necessarily true).I keep reading about people who have had to drop out of Tumble because they've injured themselves, perhaps not the best of omens ?

Splash did have the advantage of being on in Winter after Christmas when everyone is broke and nothing else to do but watch TV.
I am looking forward to Tumble, the trailer looks decent, and I LOVE Gymnastics - the question is whether I will still love Gymnastics after watching an episode of Tumble?

Fantastic rating for GBBO. And its ratings will only continue to go up as we head into Autumn and towards the conclusion of the series. In previous years, the final has rated 2-3million higher than the launch. So with the same kind of trajectory, I predict this year's GBBO final will be around the 10million mark!
