TV Ratings UK
Last night's #XFactor averaged 8.20m/34.9%, 1.3m lower than Saturday's first episode.

From a great Saturday number to a poor Sunday number. I assume it was promoted after Saturday's show, because that seems low.

The news most watched on BBC1 again.

The rating for Countrfile suggests XF might not have done as well as yesterday.

I know it was designed for pre-watershed, at least initially but it was made more adult to not have the Atlantis Slot and definitely aired at 9pm on a Sunday Night didn't it?

Since 2007 its been 7 years in the planning and making, only to decline every episode and finally fall below 4m. A massive blow and a huge shame. I loved it. I'm looking forward to the 2nd series.

ITV on the other hand have two long running dramas that they could launch something against, being that both are fairly vulnerable in the schedule.”

I can't see The Musketeers being successful in its second series. Started high, ended low, will most likely return down.

Thought so. A weak first episode has allowed many to drift away. Looks like its going to be a very difficult year for TXF

That's a confusing rating for TXF. Too early to jump to conclusions but that is very poor.

I think its a combination of viewers not tuning in having not been impressed for the 1st episode, the schedule surrounded by lower rating programmes (much lower) and some not knowing its on Sunday. I can't remember if it was advertised.

It did start 3 minutes early remember so that might ave brought down the rating a bit. Still a big drop though.

Wow! Not what I expected! I can only assume people watching X Factor on Saturday thought it was more of the same and didn't return on Sunday.

Strictly is on next week. That'll be interesting.

Very poor for X Factor there and also rather unprecedented for there to be such a drop from Saturday to Sunday.

The reaction to Saturday's show seemed positive but maybe it wasn't as positive as first thought? The Sunday show was not promoted particularly well at all at the end of Saturday's show so maybe there was an element of that. Last year there was quite a set format of rooms on Saturday and arenas on Sunday that they've gone away from this year so maybe people didn't realise there would still be a Sunday show?

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet but that is a very poor number, no doubt about it. Next weekend will be very interesting!

Didn't expect it to drop that much, I actually expected it to rise a little due to being a Sunday!

The snobbish TV audience have moved onto new TV fads, X Factor. Sorry about that.

It had a lead in from The Game Show Story last week 2.4m at 7pm and a lead out from The Great War last week 1.4m at 9pm.

Even at last night's 8.2m X Factor did better than any of these new 'fads'.

No doubt people have moved on from it, that is inevitable for a show in its eleventh year. There has to be more than that behind last night's specific rating though, hence why the next few weeks will be really interesting.

Ooh, interesting. That wasn't in the script.

I heard the first episode was full of back story and that it was boring, maybe it put people off? It was only on here and specifically this thread that I read universally positive comments.

Anyway, that's a hugely disappointing result a week before TXF meets the vastly superior Strictly.

Almost! Bake Off's highest this year is last week's 8.1m.

I think the lack of strength of ITV's schedule has let them down in this case. The X Factor was firmly standing on its own last night, so the opportunity to drag in casual viewers was lost. If you didn't know it was on, you had no reason to turn over.

I fully expect it to be back up next Saturday though, and Sunday will be interesting with the Corrie lead-in.
