In fact, I thought the Beeb were gonna air it in July/August due to the amount of promotion they've done for it, not late September! It should pose much tougher competition for DA compared to historical documentaries and niche Richard Hammond shows.”
BIB # 1 - rzt's demographic table including
Our Girl, broadcast on 24 March 2013:

BIB # 2 - perhaps a better way of describing it would be "more-complementary scheduling" rather than "tougher competition". It may have a better chance of holding up with a younger skew, but likewise
Downton would then be less affected by it.
EDIT: Just had a quick look, and the 16-34 skew for
Our Girl was 15%, in line with
Bang Goes the Theory, F1 highlights and
A Question of Sport. Youngish - it compares with 10% for
The Syndicate. Surprised
Crimewatch was as high as 19%. I suppose part of it depends on what the competing programmes skewed like.
Bang and
AQOS were probably opposite
Corrie and therefore perhaps skewed fairly young almost by default, although certainly I can see that they do have appeal to a young demo (particularly
Bang).
