The 19th cycle of DWTS starts on the 15th. Big money-spinner for the BBC although it must be nearing the end now.
Peter Fincham's Meet The Controlller session from Edinburgh is now on YouTube (posting this on my phone so struggling to post a link but it's easy enough to find).
He gets a bit feisty with the interviewer a couple of times. She's not as bad as Krishnan Guru-Murthy but she tries a couple of times and he smacks her down a bit.

Schedulers - as stated yesterday, there's no reason they couldn't have scheduled The X Factor on Monday:
19.00 Emmerdale
19.30 The X Factor
20.30 Coronation Street
21.00 Grantchester
Or switch Coronation Street and The X Factor around. The lost Coronation Street's could be aired as an hour long on a Sunday if need be.

Alan does the voiceover from London and there is nothing stopping them recording the show on Friday night and airing it on Sunday especially as week 1 has no eliminations. Sunday nights show was recorded on the previous Tuesday/ Wednesday.

I think In The Club being talked down a bit there. In the context of relatively low to poor ratings for all shows and with new dramas struggling Our Zoo only just over 5m with a massive lead-in and mega promotion and Chasing Shadows flopping I think its done really well after a bad start. It should consolidate close to 6m too.

Why should the BBC move ? SCD always starts on a Friday night.
Its ITV that have chucked in the extra show.

Nothing other than a total loss of continuity with the live Saturday show of course.
As well as, I suspect, the loss of the 5.1 sound (as the recorded programmes never seem to carry it). The viewer loses out on that aspect.
So you then end up with both shows having to be recorded and shown 1 day later (and neither show with 5.1 surround)
Meanwhile, information about what went well and what did not will appear on forums and in the media.
Why should the BBC risk all of that?
No, ITV have set themselves up for this, the BBC should hold firm (just as they did when ITV threw in the Corrie episodes very very late in the proceedings last time).

I don't think they'd do that, especially now X Factor is there, but before X Factor was put there I'd have actually suggested they do that as the Friday show never rates that well compared to the Saturday show. It'd do better on the Sunday. They won't do that now with X Factor there though.

Shame he didn't get the Guru-Murthy grilling. ITV has been awful this year.

Finally a done deal. Will be good to see a hopefully we'll funded Channel 5. They had ambitions at the start but couldn't afford them. If they had the financial backing back then as they do now things between the main channels would have been even more competitive.

It's derivative of a lot of things, In at the Deep End, and wasn't their a Piers Morgan prog on Channel4 with a similar theme? Sure loads others.
Finally, the Ch5/Viacom merge has happened. Does this mean CH5 will have a lot more money to not only produce new shows (which I see is happening), but more money to advertise and promote on other channels?
