We won't be able to tell much from Plebs' overnights anyway; things on multichannel tend to timeshift a lot.
All the repeat showings and the consolidated figures will be skipped over. Funny how ITV2 just happens to be the main focus tonight, wouldn't have anything to do with ITV1 having likely to have beat BBC1 at 9pm tonight by a significant margin would it? Always Samuel's rule, if ITV1 is doing well, start going on about ITV2. |

Inbetweeners wasn't a hit in the first series, it rated quite poorly. If you'd have had your way and it had aired on ITV2, it would have been axed and never become the big thing it became.
Plebs went in the opposition direction, losing about 50pct of its audience. Very rarely does a program which loses a significant portion of its audience in series 1, return and rate equally as well as series 1 or better. Normally a drop during the first series is a bad sign for series 2. |

Funny how with ITV2 launching a new comedy series tonight we get all this over the top 'mark my words' stuff. When BBC3 started a new series of Bad Education, it was barely mentioned. |

Samuel has seemingly refused to accept that Cilla exists since we got the rating last Tuesday morning. Now focusing on ITV2 in a pathetic attempt to divert attention. Cilla will dominate discussion tomorrow and rightly so.

OK so now I see what the fuss is about, regards "Cilla" a well drawn drama, that was engaging throughout, well directed and well produced. Up there with "Happy Valley" and "Line of Duty". That's gonna be some big fight for " Best Actress in a leading role" at the TV awards. No wonder its bringing the figures it is to ITV. A bigger hit on BBC one I think had it followed "The Great British Bake Off" however their success is well deserved. Hopefully the BBC get to work with Pope and Sheridan Smith too. She brought life to "The 7.39" too.

Tonight's episode of Cilla was better than the 1st.
I'm expecting it to go up tonight. I hope it can touch 7m. |

Any thoughts on Channel 5's new onscreen look? Just a refresh as opposed to a full change. But I think it's an improvement and works well overall. See the video below from the team at 5Creative:

Another vote for TV mags here. I've used lots of EPGs over the years and they're all a pain the armpit. It's bad enough scrolling through to find a programme you know the transmission time for and want to record.

This guy on twitter is spot on IMO:
Guest @guestofseth · 2h Can we get Sheridan Smith some better roles please? BBC? Channel 4 even?... If the "put something good on and people will watch" are right, #Cilla is the only good new drama on tv. I simply can not believe that...I have a theory that ITV drama only has to be half as good as BBC drama to get double the praise. ---- Lower general standards means the few good shows they air tend to get more attention. Something which is quite good stands out in a sea of dross. Whereas on BBC One, as most things are of high quality, certain dramas dont stand out to the audience as much so they dont rate as highly - but the general average ratings of BBC1 tend to be higher than Itv's. |

I like Sheridan Smith and she's great in Cilla, but personally I think anyone but Keeley Hawes or Sarah Lancashire winning would be absurd. Their performances are far more layered and complex than Smith's in Cilla imo, she's had better roles. Both deserve to win, so it's a shame one has to lose, I just hope they don't end up splitting the vote. I think the nominations are pretty much locked in now, the three mentioned above and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
But then what do I know, I'm still seething from Rebecca Hall losing in 2013. ![]() I do think Sheridan will be favoured and win. |

I think it looks nice. Just realised it's sharper on my computer than it is on my telly.
![]() ![]() I wonder where Viacom will stand on C5HD's paywalled status. Given they haven't elected to hop into bed with Sky thus far (i.e. keeping ad sales in-house) maybe there's an increased chance it will go free. If a slot becomes available, of course. I really think it should be, especially if they are serious about improving the brand and taking it forward. |

Sheridan Smith is ITV's drama girl. Her next project for ITV is Black Work.

And perhaps the BBC Jeff Pope projects too. Quite an amazing talent she has. She's brilliant as "Cilla".
