I was just thinking what a great episode of X Factor this is. The 6 chair challenge is the best part of the show. It's all about opinions I guess.

It feels really forced to me.

Maybe, but that's what you get with X Factor. It's obviously manipulated, but as an entertainment show (tonight's episode) is great in my humble.

The crowd are awful. The challenge, although better than normal bootcamp, is too ruthless

Strictly just finished.

Going off comments in here, if ratings were based on quality, ITV would be having a stinker of a night from 19:30 onwards, but they aren't, so ITV are in luck.

Good but not spectacular start to Strictly, with only EastEnders' Jake Wood excelling. They wrapped things up a bit too early as well, which might boost X Factor's last ten minutes. (Well, people used Strictly's extra 15 minutes as an excuse last time )

Or they might stick with BBC1 for the news.

Good point though

Really enjoyed Strictly tonight. It just seemed to flow so much better without Bruce Fluffing his lines.

Really? I thought Pixi was great as well.

Yes funny isnt it. According to posters on here EE and ED should be getting 8m and CS about 5m. Maybe we are about as representative of the general audience as the people with BARB boxes are.

I do agree. It's obviously so contrived for drama purposes but it's entertaining to watch. Brutal for the contestants involved but they know what they signed up for.

A shakier start to " Strictly Come Dancing" for a launch, a bit too quiet, but slick nevertheless. I'm not sure about the line up and Claudia seemed restrained. I dunno how much it will go up tomorrow, I wish they could have persuaded Norton to host. Seemed a bit serious.

TXF finished at 22:03. There may be two different figures for it tomorrow depending on whether non-tape-checked sources picked up on the change of slot.

What I struggle with in the case of SVU, and we'll find out the answer to this shortly, is how much it will have going for it without Stabler.

It's ridiculous. First run rights to a show and to be this far behind. Might as well have let Fox or Sky get first run and pick up second run rights if that's your intention. They have paid a premium and yet they aren't making the most of it. Must frustrate the distributor as well because the physical copy is pushed further and further back.

CBS Action is pretty much all repeats I think. They may look to change that if it takes off on Freeview I don't know. But it features many crossover shows and slots with 5USA. Notably they screen NCIS on Monday nights at 21:00, which is also its main timeslot on 5USA.”

I completely agree, but it's sixteen seasons going now and a 2.2 demo notched up for Wednesday's premiere is nothing to be sniffed at.

I know, but, in Five's defence, they really tried with Person of Interest - just not fast enough. They switched it's slot far too much, with very very erratic scheduling.

Ah yes, they are basically NCIS crazy having taken a look at their schedules. I noticed CSI-Sundays has been cut substantially, in replace of NCIS repeats. I'm a CSI fan, so this felt like a break in tradition. Was it not rating too well ? Does anyone have any figures for them ?

Even Hassaan Mohamed, who is a big XF fan, is calling it the "worst episode of XF ever". He said "what were the producers thinking allowing such a baying mob audience". This is similar to the crowd which Big Brother has, which has put millions of viewers off in recent years. Many on TXF forum are saying it was a very uncomfortable episode to watch, not entertaining in the slightest, but actually on the verge of desperate and "gladitorial". SCD is getting positive reviews, meanwhile, all over social media.

I see Cowell has got his pals of the Sun to help, how many fix factor front pages have there been now?

I agree it was the worst ever. Bootcamp shouldn't have an audience at all imo.

Gotham (New Series)
One of the biggest shows to come out of the US this year arrives on Channel 5 this week. Drawing on the story of a pre-Batman Gotham City, the series follows the young detective (and future commissioner) James Gordon and the recently orphaned Bruce Wayne in the dark days before the arrival of the Dark Knight. With a stellar cast including Ben McKenzie (‘Southland’, ‘The O.C.’), Donal Logue (‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Vikings’, ‘Terriers’), Jada Pinkett Smith (‘The Matrix Reloaded’, ‘Ali’, ‘Collateral’, ‘HawthoRNe’) and Sean Pertwee (‘The Musketeers’, ‘Elementary’, ‘Luther’, ‘The Tudors’), the series follows Gordon’s rise from rookie detective to police commissioner as he navigates the layers of corruption that secretly rule Gotham City. The metropolis is a spawning ground for the world’s most iconic villains, the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face and the Joker.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (New Season) *5USA*
As Stabler remains under investigation, Benson leads the team alone in a case that sees a high ranking Italian diplomat accused of forcing a hotel maid to perform a sex act, as the longrunning crime drama series continues.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (New Series)
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is a computer generated, animated action-comedy series, which breathes new life into the iconic characters of this wildly popular franchise.

This is so awesome, they really are moving swiftly with SVU. I'm impressed. Normally, we'd be waiting till next year for a new season.

I cannot wait for Gotham. The music on that trailer is great.

Can't say i watch TMNT, but i think Five are good for paying much needed attention to the kid's genre.

I think NCIS repeats better than CSI now. The ending of the Miami and New York spinoffs has probably had an effect and so they have reduced the number of showings dramatically in recent weeks.

On the subject of CBS Action, there's a few gems lurking in their late night schedules like Underbelly, Deadwood and Dexter. Well worth setting the PVR for.

The X Factor, boot camp ep 1, review: 'a train wreck': http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...medium=twitter

Very bad reviews from the critics for tonight's XFactor, the Telegraph gave it a rating of 1 out of 5!

Personally I have always thought the Friday start for SCD feels a little bit out of place. Its like waking the show from hibernation and it takes a while to get going. There is no decision either this week which kind of reinforces a lack of buzz. Personally I reckon they might as well go for a Sat/Sun start.

Oh! That's a shame. I do hope they pick up CSI: Cyber, starring Patricia Arquette of one of my favourite series, Medium. I can't wait for her return.

Underbelly is Australia's creme de la creme of the crime shows. It rated very well for them over the years. I might see what all the fuss is about.

Have these shows started? I'd like to record them.

Agree with every word. The usual fanfare of the announcement of Judges categories was scrapped. It's usually played up rather dramatically, with the judges views on what they want and then the tense wait for the phone call. It's a key, light hearted part of the series which was shunted in favour of negativity.
