What channel is it on? Sounds better than Corrie anyhow.

I saw a couple of minutes of CS tonight. Lister was shouting at a few men on various rooftops. It made last year's EastEnders snake story look exciting.

I agree; I think both shows will be 1m, possibly 1.5m for The X Factor, below those figures.

They were probably just trying to give a bit back to ITV after all the 'gifts' they have given
them so far this year.

The TV Critics would definitely miss it. If ITV's weekend line up was Family Fortunes or something run of the mill, like it was 15 years ago, they'd struggle to fill their column.”

The Sun would miss it , I think Dan Wootton would have a breakdown, other papers not so much really but Xfactor is part of that tabloid TV block but it isn't as dominant in the papers as it was

Apparently it was originally commissioned for Saturday night, believe it or not.

Perhaps the BBC are giving back to ITV after the easy ride they gave BBC1 on weekends before TXF and weekdays when the 9pm slot was sub 2m central.

Its only 2 more episodes.

They should have given them a bowl of fruit instead.

Might be 2 episodes too many.

Saturday night? Bloody hell! They have lost the plot.

I very much doubt that.

Early evening, pre-Strictly timeslot I presume? I can see the idea behind it but they would have been better off just bringing Changing Rooms back.

I'm thinking the BBC should be commissioning a 26 episode run next year. Could potentially transform their early evening weekends. It seems to have gone down well with 10 people out of the 2.8m who watched.

Nah, it would be a far better fit for ITV - home of Hot Tub Britain, Gems TV, and I Married The Waiter.

Indeed, as that liberalisation is to go hand in hand with the axing of the 50% quota for in-house production.

Good predictions. I think Strictly might be a bit lower, but 7.1 (inc +1) looks about right for The X Factor.

What about the soaps?
I think about 6m for both EE and Emmerdale and around 6.9m and 6.7m for Corrie.

Some scheduling news:

New Tricks is on at 2235 again in Northern Ireland on Monday to make way for local programming at 2100

In Scotland Countryfile moves to 1730-1830 tomorrow to accommodate a documentary about a hundred years of the Sunday Post newspaper 1900-2000.

Previous Friday Strictly Ratings (Overnights)
2009 - 8.44m (35.7%)
2010 - 9.05m (38.2%)
2011 - 7.98m (33.1%)
2012 - 8.00m (34.0%)
2013 - 7.81m (35.2%)

The Friday episode of Strictly began with series 7 in 2009.

Can't call the ratings. But here are my predictions:
SCD - 7.9m
TXF - 7.3m (7.6m inc +1)
Gogglebox - 1.9m (2.1m inc +1)

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a delay in ratings today. Perhaps the BARB boxes have malfunctioned?

The One Show: 3.39m (19.0%)
A Question of Sport: 3.20m (16.7%)
EastEnders: 6.35m (31.1%)
Would I Lie To You: 3.33m (15.4%)
Strictly Come Dancing: 6.53m (28.5%)
BBC News at Ten: 4.40m (24.1%)
BBC Regional News: 4.04m (25.1%)
The Graham Norton Show: 3.14m (24.1%)

Based on that Strictly rating, I won't be at all surprised if The X Factor is sub 6 million. A Question of Sport looks higher than usual, normally tends to be a few hundred thousand lower than that.

#StrictlyComeDancing kicks off with a peak of 6.8m (av 6.5m). The highest rating show at 9pm. #SCD @BBCOne

Oh today will be fun with the slagging off of channels and shows.

Maybe all the BARB viewers went out and they have had to call in the Pools Panel to guess the ratings.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 26s
Friday 9pm - #Strictly comes out on top:
@bbcstrictly: 6.53m/28.5%
@TheXFactor: 5.85m/25.7%
@C4Gogglebox: 2.67m/11.6%

FANTASTIC for Gogglebox given the opposition. Lol at X Factor. Actually OUCH at X Factor. Coronation Street's rating will be interesting.

It's not often that you can say that Eastenders beat The X Factor
