That overnight rating for X Factor is with the ads stripped out.

Oh is it. I thought the overnights include the ads. If not, thats even worse for XF [and all commercial shows]!

Its amazing how one episode of TXF can be of poorer quality and then great the next night. Who is editing the show.

No its not. Only in consolidated ratings does it have the ads stripped out I believe.

They were editing tonight's show right until 5.15pm. They leave it so late that sometimes the edits can end up being very poor due to rushing about with the edits last minute, as the majority of viewers seemed to agree for yesterday's episode.

Also yesterdays episode focussed on Cheryl Cole. She may have been the Nations Sweetheart 4 years ago but people dont like her so much nowadays. She's always been a crap judge but there was an illusion created back in her first stint that she was good due to her smiling and people feeling sorry for her due to Cashley cheating on her. But in reality, she's always been a pretty bad judge with not much backbone and not much to say. People are only realising it now, now that she hasnt got people feeling sorry for her and after her solo music career failed.

They really don't do themselves any favours.

It was the same for the auditions - good show, bad show, good show, bad show... they need to find some consistency with the edit.

I think the live shows look promising.

And, as said above, the overnights include the breaks. The officials have them stripped out.

Tweeted by XFactor producer Mark Sidaway just after 5pm:

@radioleary 29 minutes to finish this edit before the North London derby #pressure

In fairness, they may have been re-editing the show after last night's edition was poorly received. The audience was the vocal point of last night's episode due to the sheer volume. They've got rid a lot of background noise with tonight's programme.

I have terrible feeling about tonight's ratings, there being a good three minutes of trailers between Strictly and Doctor Who didn't help.

Do we know what the BBC Music 07.10.14 sting is about?

Characters, children, same difference.

They always edit late and they tweet these messages and you just think that explains so much about variable quality.

Given that the bootcamp episodes were filmed in August, it is quite astonishing that they leave it so late in terms of the edit! No wonder the quality of episodes have been in decline.

The dancing and scoring had finished on Strictly by just after twenty past 8. If the 'clash' audience switched over at that point to The X Factor it will drag down Strictly's figure and potentially hurt Doctor Who. But Who always relies on consolidation anyway, so it's not a huge issue for the BBC.

Thay were probably already edited and ready to go but after the reaction to last night they have seen it necessary to tweek them.
