Disasterous ratings for Itv. This is what happens when you have several weeks of low ratings and poor weekly reaches. When they end up with a schedule full of new shows, some of which seem quite decent-ish looking, it rates poorly because no one has seen the promos and people are totally out of the habit of tuning into the channel.
The Zoo rating is majorly down from last year when it was in the post Coro Wed 8pm slot. This proves two things: 1. the Coro oap-boosting lead-in does help shows out without a shadow of a doubt. and 2. the reduced weekly reach this year compared to the same period last year is damaging Itv's ratings.
A couple years ago The Zoo aired during the Olympics in the same Sunday slot and rated better. Says it all, really. Also a terrible terrible rating for the Great War factual-drama, just awful. It was niche, unpopular programming which I knew would rate terribly, but I didnt expect it to fall as low as 1.6million in a flagship Sunday 9pm slot. The Village took advantage and demolished it in the ratings with ultimate ease. Im really happy because the Village could've returned low due to its first series trajectory but such poor weak Itv opposition has helped it out this time.
