Long Lost Family tops Monday ratings with 4.3 million
Long Lost Family topped the Monday night ratings outside of soaps, overnight data reveals. The ITV series brought in 4.33 million (20.3%) at 9pm, with an added 209,000 (1.2%) tuning in on +1. Earlier, Countrywise was seen by 2.70m (13.9%) at 8pm (197k/0.9% on +1). On BBC One, The Sheriffs Are Coming appealed to 3.14m (18.2%) at 7pm. A repeat of Room 101 entertained 2.36m (11.2%) at 8.30pm, followed by a repeat of Death in Paradise with 2.53m (11.9%) at 9pm. BBC Two's WWI Remembered from the Battlefield was seen by 1.51m (8.3%) at 7pm, while its coverage from Westminster Abbey climbed to 2.43m (12.6%) at 9pm. On Channel 4, Dispatches interested 1.63m (8.3%) at 8pm (215k/1.0%), followed by Food Unwrapped with 1.52m (7.2%) at 8.30pm (143k/0.7%). Royal Marines Commando School attracted 1.94m (9.1%) at 9pm (317k/1.8%), and Kitchen Nightmares gathered 770k (4.4%) at 10pm (166k/1.7%). Channel 5's Police Interceptors attracted 957k (4.7%) at 8pm, followed by Dangerous Dog Owners and Proud with 1.30m (6.1%) at 9pm (208k/1.2%) and Big Brother with 1.19m (6.7%) at 10pm. On E4, The 100 continued with 699k (3.3%) at 9pm (205k/1.2%). |

That should really be on BBC One, It was only a one off event to mark WW1.

You'd have thought so.
New Tricks would have been on Monday last year had it not been for Doc Martin. So Friday it is then.

It ran on for a while which may have interrupted the "BBC News at Ten".

Well, as I pointed out earlier, as far as BBC one goes, the 9pm slots are free on Monday & Friday. And as it would be suicidal to schedule NT or The Fall on a Friday, logically NT would have to end up on the Monday.
So Friday it is then. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() New Tricks will be on Monday. |

It was only the first night and things might pick up but I'm still mad at how badly Conan did. What on earth is wrong with UK viewers ? They obviously want their digital channels rammed with repeats all day long of the same 2-3 shows.

My 'Theory of Broadcast TV' is that most people are primarily looking for a social experience with TV programmes.
That means watching with other people, the other people being the UK population. So TruTV does not meet the criteria of a 'social meeting place', it's just too niche. Put Conan on ITV2 at 11pm and he's getting 500k I would guess. I suspect that quite a few people, like me, simply do not find them entertaining. I have watched some of them with a mixed US/UK audience and the Yanks have been rolling on the floor while the Brits, uniformly, do not crack a single smile. I love many US films and shows, and am personally pro-American, but the humour of these shows does not translate well in the UK - Saturday Night Live is, and always has been, a complete laugh-free zone for me whenever I've watched it and Letterman etc are simply not funny to many Brits. |

Friday isn't free either, Boomers airs at 9pm, Monday 9pm is the only free slot on BBC One.

Not sure anyone is really going to venture out to channel 565 to find it though, at 23:00 at night...

Surely the Freeview slot is key though. Especially given UKTV's Drama is apparently doing so much better on Freeview than it is on Sky, albeit from a good EPG position on Freeview which TruTV lacks. In the trailers the fact that it's a new "free-to-air" channel is heavily pushed.

Anything for the first of Michael Portillo's WW1 railway programmes (BBC Two, 18:00)?
The rating for STV's independence debate tonight should be interesting. It replaces the ITV Flop Zone north of the border (20:00-22:00). Channel 5 need to check their grammar. Dangerous-Dog-Owning and Proud, it should be. |

Rated well didn't it? About 300,000 more than I was expecting in all honesty.

Any news on the takeover yet?
In America, Viacom has just announced a TV adaptation of School of Rock for Nick: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...ckelodeon.html |

Do you know BB's actual rating with +1? Bothersbar are reporting 1.24m but DS is reporting 1.19m excl +1, surely it would have added more than 50k on timeshift?
Ch5 documentaries still going very strong. Yes, Channel 5 seems to be matching or surpassing Channel 4 more often now. If I recall correctly they seemed to do the same last summer. |

Didn't bother them on Closing Ceremony night.
No other "PSB channel" bothered to cover it at all. |

Death In Paradise is really turning into another New Tricks for BBC1. Decent repeat numbers last night with 2.5m.

From Bothersbar:
Pointless 2.64m (23.5%) The 21st Question 1.96m (18.4%) Tipping Point 1.61m (25.8%) Big Brother 1.24m (7.0%) Couples Come Dine With Me 0.85m (7.9%) Perfection 0.77m (13.3%) BBBOTS 0.56m (5.8%) Deal or No Deal 0.39m (5.7%) Countdown 0.34m (5.6%) Win It Cook It 0.32m (4.0%) All including HD and +1 where appropriate That's a pretty damn good share for Tipping Point. However well it does at 4pm its not quite 7pm material. Fair enough commission a series with celebs but have for the early evening around 6pm on weekends. The 21st Question did fairly well, but it will drop. Thankfully its on on for 10 days. The next gameshow to fill his slot is 'Gift Wrapped' hosted by Ruth Langsford and Eamon Holmes. |
