Well no one is going to see the advert as the people who watch ITV now is way down.

Ahead of Tumble's launch this Saturday, here are BBC One's biggest entertainment consolidated ratings for August since 2006. I have deliberately excluded Lottery related shows from these numbers as these are split into three in the official numbers:

2006 - 26/08 - 21:25 - 5.67m (28.1%) - How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
2007 - 25/08 - 18:10 - 3.77m (27.1%) - Edinburgh Military Tattoo
2008 - 30/08 - 20:55 - 5.56m (25.7%) - Last Choir Standing
2009 - 22/08 - 21:05 - 5.03m (23.8%) - Michael McIntyre: Live and Laughing
2010 - 14/08 - 19:50 - 4.65m (23.8%) - Tonight's the Night
2011 - 06/08 - 21:20 - 4.56m (20.3%) - John Bishop's Britain
2012 - 18/08 - 17:25 - 2.53m (19.6%) - Total Wipeout
2013 - 17/08 - 17:45 - 3.86m (22.7%) - Pointless Celebrities

The last thing to have resounding success in August on BBC One entertainment wise was the Andrew Lloyd Webber strands, although back then it has to be said that In It to Win It was bringing in seven million viewers consolidated.

Realistically, I think we're looking at about 4.5 million for Tumble, when you consider the low ratings all around as of late. Anything else will be a bonus (even considering ITV's ratings), and under four million would be a concern considering the promotion.

A 13.3% share for GMB yesterday - barely scraped 400,000 viewers.

Keep this up and Tru TV will beat its ratings, Joke there somewhere as no one has heard of Tru TV and they only launched yesterday

In GMB's interview with Conan they had the cheek to bring up a project of his that didn't do so well. The biggest failure on television right now commenting on other failures was quite something.

The "next week" section promotes a "New Drama Special"

Quote:
“Tamzin Outhwaite stars in New Tricks, Gillian Anderson returns to The Fall.”

It'll be a drama preview feature, with articles on several dramas, that ties in with the start of New Tricks. They'll probably have features on the likes of Downton and Our Girl, but they clearly won't all be starting that week. They've done this sort of thing before.

A US TV personality most people in Britain have never heard of on a breakfast show most people in Britain don't watch - a winning combination there.

Looking at all of that I still have a feeling Tumble will be higher than all of them. It's not based on logic, just a gut feeling. I'll probably be wrong now after saying that!

US TV personality that is will likely out rate GMB while no one has heard of him.

With Tumble, we are witnessing the dawn of a new era of entertainment hits for the BBC. Its sucess imo will lead on to even bigger and greater things for BBC Entertainment over the next few years. When Tumble becomes a hit, the confidence will be regained at the BBC and that confidence will spread and help generate strong ideas for BBC light entertainment going forward. Very exciting times right now.

Incidentally has BBC News done any gymnastic features or items so far this week to give a nice plug for Tumble? I've not caught any yet but perhaps they have got some good items lined up for later this week on Friday/Saturday just before the launch.

Samuel, Tumble would need to get monster numbers to herald a new dawn in BBC light entertainment!

Remember that those are consolidated figures.

The most recent light entertainment project was "Edinburgh Live" with Jones at the microphone. It got around 3 and a half million. And Frank Skinner and Gaby Logan could only draw minimal numbers for "I love my country" with celebrities. Realistically it could start low.

Sorry if I'm abite late on this but came across this post on the Broadcasting forum...

Any "legal eagles" about?
I've been looking at the EU Commission site about the merger, came across this--
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-conte...01.0038.01.ENG

part that I found interesting/confusing was--

(Council Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004)

On 10 June 2014, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration between Viacom and Channel 5 Broadcasting. On 20 June 2014, the notifying party informed the Commission that it withdrew its notification.

What's that all about then?

I know those are consolidated and yet I wouldn't be surprised if the overnight beat all of those. Like I said before I have no logical basis for this.

I could see how it could go up towards the end of the series as it gathers momenteum but "Your Face Sounds Familiar" also launched to 3.8 - 3.9 mid July so I think "Tumble" will have to be pretty compelling to get people out of the sun and stop their holidays. I dunno why BBC one couldn't have waited to launch in September and stripped it over two weeks at 7pm. Its still keeping her in a job.

"Prior to the X Factor dance competition Stepping Out debuted with 3.54 , 20.9% at 6.30" September 1st 2013

Cylon6, you have good sources at the BBC just like me, who have reassured you that Tumble is going to be a top class mainstream entertainment show. The pilot was extremely well received, people who went to it raved about it. This should do well, everything has been well planned for Tumble to become a hit. You and I have basis for our opinions that it will become a hit.

Well I know it isn't being done on the cheap, the producers used to work on I'm A Celebrity and X Factor and the director is Phil Heyes who directs X Factor. They are not going for a cheap, tacky show like I Love My Country was.

I think it will do well, doesn't mean it will. But BBC1 are putting a lot of effort into making and promoting it.

I doubt that "Stepping Out" or "Your Face Sounds Familiar" were inexpensive or without effort either, or "The Voice UK" "Big Brother"

We have to see on Saturday if its worth watching or not by tuning in to BBC One.

If it clicks Tumble will pick up towards the end of the series like most of these hit shows. Stripping it across two weeks might work but clashing with ITV soaps wouldn't help it. BBC1 wanted to get this out of the way before Strictly.

Everything you said makes sense but I still think it'll launch higher.

Well I hope yer right Cyclon but the producers are scratching for new ideas right now. Its time for BBC one to get a hit show again in entertainment. It could do with something I hope "The Voice" will return OK from Kylie's departure.
