C4 isn't short of money - just imaginative commissioners.

'Million Pound Drop' renewed?

I watched a tiny bit of one of the new series and it was cringey stuff, not just because it was no longer live but also the format is so dated now.

A show a mere few years old is dated?, that's what comes of showing it so often. All the flaws in the concept get exposed very quickly.

Here Come The Romanians documentary set for C4, reports Broadcast:
Quote:
“Here Come The Romanians (w/t) is a three-part documentary series, currently being filmed, which aims to present the much-debated issue from the immigrant’s point of view.

The series, commissioned by head of documentaries Nick Mirsky, will be the latest in a range of shows exploring the social effects of migration to air on C4.

Last month C4 greenlit 6 x 60-minute series Immigration Street from Benefits Street-indie Love Productions. Love has also been commissioned to produce a 2 x 60-minute follow-up to Make Bradford British, located in Leicester. Current affairs strand Cutting Edge is also exploring the issue with a one-off film following Roma gypsies, Living With Roma, from Minnow Films.”

The Guardian article mentioned two Miranda specials, but didn't give a timescale. Hopefully the Beeb has at least cleared those with the star!

Miranda Hart herself confirmed there would be a couple of Christmas specials on Alan Carr: Chatty Man last month. She also confirmed there are not yet any plans for another full series.

I seem to recall a post some months back saying that Miranda had infact already filmed a not for broadcast pilot of the show and that she would be happy to do it as a series. Perhaps she's peeved it was announced before it was meant to be?

There's a tradition of this sort of thing. Russell T Davies was irritated that the then Controller of BBC1 announced the return of Doctor Who in an interview with the Daily Telegraph in 2003, well before the scheduled announcement time. RTD famously said something like "of course no-one reads the Telegraph so no-one noticed until it appeared in the Guardian" (which then as now of course sold under half as many copies as the Telegraph) - a sidelight on the self-referential insularity of the media world.

I think Channel 4 have commissioned some good drama. But why can't it hold an audience?

I think that's quite strong actually. Could prove popular for them.

It's like low-end supermarket 'Iceland' selling upmarket food.

People who shop at Iceland will turn their noses up at it and people who wouldn't be seen dead at Iceland won't change that view.

CH4 is now a low-end brand basically.

Too much 'gritty BAFTA' programmed which seem to be solely aimed at quinoa eating Guardian readers.

They need to make their drama more accessible to all audiences - Shameless / No Angels/ MisFits ... they were just bloody good programmes which all had wide appeal.4 seem to concerned with what the Radio Times thinks and not the average Joe.

I think on paper it's probably one of the weaker line ups in terms of household names and far too much emphasis on reality TV stars again. (I count 7 in total)

BUT .... in terms of personality I think it it could be golden. They've booked a good mix here.

Didn't Emma Willis describe the lineup as 'current'? Only a few of those names are current IMO..

Don't post obviously made-up figures masquerading as fact.

Errrr.......if you find posts on this thread offensive and take them personally you're in the wrong thread! We don't mince our words and mollycuddle anyone on here. Tassium didn't imply, once, not anywhere, that Iceland customers are benefit scroungers. Show me on his/her post where he/she wrote that?

That CBB lineup looks quite good to me. Focussing on the other summer series, probably not quite as strong as the last couple of years on paper, but easily better than CBB8 (Bobby Sabel, anyone?) with potential to be far better than CBB12 this time last year was which was basically carried by Charlotte and had little else going for it.
